Hey there everyone. First post here on the forum, glad I've been able to find a grouping of knowledgable bourbon people on the 'net finally.

The girlfriend and myself are both bourbon drinkers and are always on the lookout for new ones to try, but unfortunately the variety is sometimes lacking around here, so the chance to try new ones in a bit of a pain.

Currently our shelf is stocked with Bookers, Eagle Rare 10yr SB (her favourite), and one we got while in Chicago recently- Jefferson's Reserve.

The previous favourite was the Woodford Reserve, but after a head pounding tasting session at a local restaurant/bar (Southern Accent), we were able to find this new one.

As I can tell there's a few other Canadian's on the forum, any findings would be appreciated, or if anyone else has a head's up on other good bourbons in the same vein as the the Eagle/Woodford.

Thanks,

Ross.

Hi there:

Like your choice of Southern Accents for bourbon. Overpriced in my view, but a nice place, and has a good selection of bourbon. The only other place in Toronto I've been to for good bourbon was Allens on Danforth around Broadview.

As to other bourbons, well you're limited to what the LCBO is willing to provide. You can special order stuff, but it will cost extra (a lot more), and you have to order in cases.

As to what is sold at the LCBO, Elmer T. Lee @$40 cdn is universally admired on this board. A little more full bodied that the ones you've mentioned methinks, but not that much of a stretch. Blantons might be more like the flavour profile you've suggested, but the price is dear ($90/bottle). You could try it at the Summerhill LCBO's tasting tower - about $1.50 or thereabouts for a sample.

The only other thing I can think of is Corner Creek @ $40/bottle. It's been a while since I've had it, but I think Southern Accents has a bottle.

That's my $0.02.

Truthfully, I've heard rumours that Dipamo's on Eglinton W (http://www.diplamos.com) has a decent selection, but I haven't made it there yet. Website claims the city's largest collection, but we all know marketing isn't known to be always correct.

So I was partially hoping that someone else had checked it out first.
