Today I was in a liquor store on the north side of town that happens to keep all their "premium" bottles behind the counter. I asked how long the bottles of Lot B had been on the shelf and he replied, "oh, about six months.....you want to see the UPC Code too!" :bigeyes: I started laughing and the guy proceeds to tell me that there's "this group" of people who have been scouting all their stores. He claims there's two men and two women who have been to several of their stores in the past two weeks with notebooks, writing down UPC's and stocking up! :shocked:

I swear IT'S NOT ME!!!!! :blush: But, I'm sure it's someone on this forum.....whoever it is, do you need a pocket UPC card so that you don't have to take a notebook?! :grin: I'll even tell ya where my favorite stores are and if you're looking for something in particular......chances are good that I can send you in the right direction :toast:

This is great! I say we form a posse and find out who they are if nobody is going to come forward. It is a bit of a drive for me from down here in Memphis, but I'm a pretty good tracker & hunter. We'll find 'em! Just kidding!

It is interesting though that folks are out there as a small band of harvesters going to all this trouble. I have heard from good authority that there is no way to distinguish the older Lot B from the more recent that originates with Bernheim wheat....be it bar code, bottle labels, bottle numbers, etc. Sounds like they are going to a lot of trouble for nothing. Maybe it is a bit premature, but I for one am of the opinion that the newer Lot B may be almost indistinguishable from the older S-W batches. The reason I say this is based soley on my faith & trust in Julian. I think it will be every bit as good. There will be some who will disagree just like the ORVW 15 and Pappy 15...but, thanks to 20 years of bonding with J.D. - my taste buds are not what they used to be!

It's not me....I really don't spend that much effort searching. Generally stop into the Kahn's about once a month and may stop at one of the northside 21st Amendments if passing by (I live on the southside so it's normally when shopping with the wife). Outside of stocking up on the William Larue Weller locally, I get most of my liquor from Chicago stores (better selection and prices) since we frequently visit there.

I did get bored one night a couple of months ago and just went looking at a lot of the smaller stores on the southside...the only thing that I found which I had to buy was a bottle of Lagavulin that had an older price shelf marker (computer had current price levels but they sold it at the shelf marker price anyway).

The shops that I tend to frequent tend not to have a whole lot of dusty bottles - yet I sometimes run into occasional surprises like the gold wax Hirsch 16 that followed me home, or more recently, a 750 ml Eagle Rare 10/101.

Back when I saw two ORVW 15/107 bottles amidst a sea of the 10yo version, I wish now that I had snagged both bottles, not just one... but that would have been a budget-buster.

I'm from the North Side and It's me! No just kidding. I have no idea whose been scanning the inventories. I wish it was me, I'm always looking for a girl who enjoys whisky and I can only get a few of my male friends to actually drink whisky. I've got quite a few are vodka nuts though. One thing a don't understand is how you can be a disciple of a spirit which by design is meant to be as odorless, tasteless and colorless as possible. But I guess it does have its uses. I digress....
