boone
I found a bottle of A.H. Hirsch, blue wax    ...As all of ya know, this is Uncle Everett's (C.E. Beam) whiskey    This bottle will not stay in my collection. It's going home    to where it belongs    It's going to Uncle Everett's daughter, Katie    :grin:I recently found out that she did not have one of these bottlings. They have the jugs but not the Hirsch that was stored, then finally bottled     To make a long story short...a dear friend (on this forum) gave her that rare bottling...He could have sold it on ebay and made a nice little stash for himself at anytime...but he didn't    The only request he made was that if they didn't take it that I return it to him...I got a call this morning    while enjoying a breakfast (in Bardstown) with Pat, my cell phone rings...It's Katie    she's crying    She just opened the package (containing the Hirsch blue wax)  She is so overwhelmed. I had trouble understanding her words    It was so emotional...I started crying just listening to her try to express her happiness    She finally made it thru    and we talked in depth about her Daddy...She was very curious about "the man" who made sure that Uncle Everett's family got this rare bottling...It became very emotional again  She was in absolute heaven    ....I told her about this very generous man and the things he has given me    He always takes care of folks around here...The kindest, and generous man I know....I hope that all of ya know this man just by the description that I have given...if not...well, you have not followed Straightbourbon.com very well...He's always there contributing his wealth of knowledge with all of us...Thank You...TIM SOUSLEY (TNbourbon) words cannot express what's going on in our heart        You're the best    Sincerely,Bettye Jo
Rughi
Bettye Jo,Reading your account was worth so much more than the money that bottle would bring at auction. Thanks for sharing, and my personal thanks to Tim for making a great moment possible. Generosity makes us all richer.Roger

TNbourbon
Bettye Jo, Roger, Joe -- while I am always appreciative of kind words directed at me, by now you know that generosity is such a hallmark of so many of the members of StraightBourbon.com, that ordinary courtesy should receive no more than ordinary credit. Y'all credit me too much:blush:. I did nothing to create C. Everett Beam's vaunted history, nor to create that A.H. Hirsch bottling. Noting their connection took no great imagination or philanthropy on my part.
Nebraska
Tim, sit back take the thanks, smile and feel good about yourself.Coming from a very newbie, it took all of 2 or 3 weeks to notice that you were consistently popping up, being helpful, guiding, letting stupid observations or comments (from myself) pass or interjecting gentle direction. I recognized immediately that you were the kinda guy I aspire to be. It's one thing to have knowledge, it's another to know how to foster growth in those around you.OK, Ok ...now aside from that, I'm just trying to set myself up as being a beneficiary in your will for your bourbon collection...lol.For people like you what you did was easy, that says mountains about who you are...but everybody here already knew that.Mark/Nebraska
