Virus_Of_Life
Watched that episode a few times! I think it aired before chistmas time originally. I love the cooking channel and Alton is incredibly knowledgable, not to mention pretty dang funny!
tachyonshuggy
I'd been trying various search terms to try to find listworthy links but turned up very little. I DID turn up this well-done (if lo-fi) tutorial on making old fashioneds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgaW8c8dC04&search=bourbon%20whiskey I'll probably cross-post to the new old fashioned thread

JeffRenner
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NYhyNnO2Lw&search=bourbonStumbled across this today while poking around YouTube.I agree with Troy - nice find. But I notice that he said all you need is corn, water, yeast and a little wheat, which "makes an interesting flavor and helps the fermentation a little bit," or something like that. No mention of barley malt. And wheat doesn't really help fermentation. Maybe he was thinking of malt, which not only helps fermentation but makes it possible by converting the starches to fermentable sugars for the yeast to convert to alcohol.Jeff
