P.S. I was once told that the Norwegian phrase for "hangover" translates as "tiny workmen in my head." True? The translation I mean, not the description; that I know.

I don't know about the Norwegian word, but in Japanese the word for hangover is Futsuka yoi, which means something like "two days drunk" or "second day drunk"
