Rowan's Creek...a great summer pour

We just started carrying this, among other bottles, at the store where I work. I was pleasantly surprised. What a wonderful summertime pour. It's sort of bright, fruity and nutty for a bourbon. The price point is perfect for a drink over the rocks.

Does anyone have insight into the origins of this bourbon and its apparent marketing brothers...Kentucky Vintage, Vintage Bourbon, Old Bardstown...etc.? I'm trying to look into things a bit further, but data seems a bit limited.

All made by Even Kulsveen of Kentucky Bourbon Distillers Ltd. They bottle, but don't distill, at the Old Willet Distillery in Bardstown. His son, Drew, posts on here occasionally. Heaven Hill is generally credited as the source of their bourbon, but this remains an open question.

Working on my first bottle. It's interesting, enjoyable and pretty reasonably priced.

Lots of oak and a little citrus in the nose. The taste is initially caramel sweet and very oaky. It says 12, and my batch was a little over 13 years old, but WOW this bottle is woodier than Pappy 20. However, it's free of the late bitterness I usually associate with "too woody" bourbons. Rye eases in and the finish is lightly tart and spicy.

I like it and I'll buy it again, but I wonder if the woodiness will make it unapproachable for many.
