TimmyBoston
I picked up a couple bottles of vodka today, Hangar One brand to be specific. Something I don't normally drink, but I like to have a bottle or two around the house for guests. They usually last me about 3 or 4 years. I picked up the regular vodka and the mandarin blossom vodka. I have only tried the mandarin and I have to to say, it's pretty tasty. I put in the freezer and then sipped some neat, it was one of the best flavored vodka's I've ever had. Apparently they use real fruit not extracts to flavor it. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good flavored vodka. Anyone else ever try Hangar One?
Nebraska
Had a salesman give me a bottle, (I bought about 6 bottles of Pappy 15 and a case of Virginia Gentleman), he said you have to try this. I took it home but have as yet to open it, not that I don't like it (love Belvedere), but just haven't got to it yet. Who knows, maybe tomorrow night, will report back. Vange
Is my favorite flavored vodka ever. I have turned many people onto it in the last 4 years or so. I even found a place that sells it for $23 a 750. Some think it is a bit syrupy, but I think it's perfect. Sadly, their flavors and their regualr vodka don't hold up well versus the mandarin.I use a little bit of tonic in mine over ice, but it can definitely be sipped when chilled. TimmyBoston
I opened my bottle of Original Hangar One Vodka (unflavored, standard vodka) and I was impressed. Admittedly, I'm not a vodka drinker and never have been. I have had to date, one vodka martini in my life, but I really like this vodka. It would make one decadent martini. I actually may have to make one. The vodka was incredibly smooth and had a mild white wine and grape flavor, very enjoyable.
tritioch
Hangar One vodka is pretty damn good IMO. All of the different flavors are decent as well, really aromatic, if slightly different than you might expect (the citron is not as juicy as others out there). Mandarin blossom and Fraser River Raspberry are my favorites. Raspberry is my personal favorite, however it is the hardest to find(only 36 bottles made it locally), and has the shortest shelf life (unless refrigerated, the flavor begins to deteriorate after 6 months). Older bottles are not necessarily terrible, I had a bottle that had been on a store shelf for 8 months or so and it was still good... just not its brilliant self. Hangar One Fraser River Raspberry June 2006 release:Color: cranberry (deeper than the 2005 which was more rose champagne)Nose: Mashed red raspberries, seed and all. Light juniper berry note in the background, some leafyness. With time in the glass the raspberry calms down slightly and fresh rrainwater aromas emerge.Palate: Pureed Raspberry, bursting with syrupy juice. Rain water, raspberry seeds, raspberry candyFinish: Mouth watering, raspberry puree, lightly earthy, lingering aromas of the raspberry patch.
