gothbat
My bottle of VWFRR has met it's end to a healthy pour. It went fast; lately I've been less attached to the better bottles I have open and my attitude has gone from "Save it for a while" to "It's not getting any better and you know it's good, drink that one!". My only regret is that I didn't buy more the last time I saw this, it appears to be all sold out. Well, at least I have this glass; haven't even sipped it yet. TBoner
Been awhile since I emptied anything, but I killed a 1792 and an OGD 8/86 from National Distillers this week. The former is easily replaced but was a particularly good bottle. The latter...down to just 5 of 'em in the bunker and no more in town.
TBoner
Just a follow-up: last pour of WT 12 went this afternoon. Split label. Many tears. Much sadness.:cry:Those are the only three near-empty bottles I have/had, so it'll be awhile before more pain occurs. Next to go (~1-3 weeks): WTRR 101.I hate having mostly dusties in my collection...
snakster
My bottle of Four Roses Small Batch bit the dust last night (with help from a friend). We enjoyed its passing immensely. Too bad it is so hard to replace.

OscarV
Hey Spun, that's what we are here for, we all feel your pain, hence the title of this thread.I can think of no sadder sight than a man that has just emptied a FR40th and knows no more can be had. bigtoys
The last of the bottle of 40th Anniversary Jimmy Rutledge Single Barrel Four Roses I had that is....You should consider yourself lucky to have had a bottle; I'm sure you do. They never made it to Chicago and I never made it to KY.edit: Looking back a little, I see you have 2 more bottles. Lucky lucky you.
Old Lamplighter
Last gasp tonight from a great bottle - VWFRR #G3259. It shall be greatly missed and its wonderful spiritual blessings not soon forgotten. After an appropriate time of mourning, bottle VWFRR #I4226 will assume the position of the deceased on the front lines.
SBOmarc
Saz 18 from '06 left the bar drained of all its goodness.
Everman75
Lastnight I finished a Four Roses yellow label with a CAO Cameroon cigar, then followed that up by finishing off a bottle of VW Lot B. Fortunatley I have another VWLB bottle in stock, but the FR is gone and I can't get either one here in Ohio.

Sijan
Finished up a bottle of Rock Hill Farms last night. It was a veteran of my law school years, and a favorite of one of my roommates. He was in town over the weekend, and we had a few pours, leaving the bottle low enough that it needed to be finished off. Had forgotten how good it was - minty nose, spicy rye on the palate, dry leather finish.I don't often finish off bottles of the good stuff. Old Lamplighter
Last night, with one last strong pour, a good ole bottle of ERSB passed away with honor and glory. Sadness with a smile though.......got 5 more lying in wait behind it.
stroker394
Well, I have been sampling 3 different lately and just finished all 3 tonight. The last drink out of the last bottle is sitting peacefully in my glass. Waiting patiently for one last hoorah. They are OGD 100 BIB, Bulleitt and Jim beam White Label. I see a bourbon run in my very near future.

spun_cookie
Its hard to say this is fair to compare to a long romance of 750 mls, but the feeling is the same. A great and honorable member of this site bestowed upon me ~75ml of Eagle Rare 101 10yr. She was a gentle pour. Bold, yet rich with rich subtle tones of complexity and passion. It may have been a short love affair, but I will always remember her as the end of any meal as a wonderful way to unwind an evening... Go free wild one... fly into the sky where the empties goes... go free.... :frown: or is it
cowdery
I emptied two bottles last night and it reminded me that I still suffer from the affliction that prompted me to start this thread, I just can't finish them off. I drink bourbon often but empty bottles rarely, which means I have a lot of them sitting around with one or two drinks in them.List night I finished an Old Fitzgerald BIB, current production. No big deal, as I actually have another bottle of the same stuff in about the same state, with maybe three drinks left in it. The other was a Weller 12, from the Everett's bottling, which a quick-eyed Randy Blank tipped us is SW whiskey. Although I emptied one bottle, I still have a few left, so no great trauma there either.Unfortunately, there are many more bottles on the table in the same state, so I'm going to suck it up and try to start emptying them. Really, I am. One is a gold foil Hirsch. That's going to be tough, although the pleasure of drinking it will help.If it get stuck, I'm confindent that my SB friends will talk me through it. jbaker
My 375mL of Old Charter The Classic 90 is no longer with us. I am saddened to know that I probably won't see a replacement for a long while. Ho-hum. Luckily there are other whiskeys in the sea...or something.
