EC12 fuzz?

I'm into my first 12yr EC and I've had a strange experience with it; while drinking it I get what I would call a dry, "fuzzy" feeling in my mouth, tongue and lips. Seriously, FUZZY is the most accurate word. It is not a good thing and it can linger for quite some time. Does anyone know what the hell I'm talking about (I often don't:rolleyes: )? I'd love to know if others have experienced this same thing, with EC or any other pours. Otherwise, the flavor is ok, not my fav. I know I've read here people saying the EC18 is very "woody" and that's the word that came to mind with my initial sip of this12y (of course "woody" only lasted till "fuzzy" spoke up), not overly so or bad, but you can taste wood for sure. thanks

I did not experience what you are describing.

EC 12 is not woody. The 18 is a completely different animal (and my favorite bourbon, incidentally) and has a very different flavor profile.

I enjoyed the bottle of EC 12 I bought, but I can only guess that EC 12 is very inconsistent because some people quite like it (I'm in this camp) and others think it is horrible. Perhaps you got one of the latter bottles...

Not sure what could cause a "fuzzy" sensation. I have had Stagg literally numb my tongue and lips due to the high proof, but I don't think the EC12 is high enough to do that. Unless, you have a high sensitivity to such things. Any sediment at the bottom of the bottle?

Does the fuzzy feeling always happen when you drink EC12, or was it an isolated incident? Maybe you ate or drank something prior to the bourbon that caused a strange reaction.

Personally, the only fuzzy feelings I get from bourbon come after a few drinks, and then it's warm and fuzzy all over!

I've bought two different bottles of EC 12 and have experienced a strange metalic taste in both. As a matter of fact, I couldn't finish either bottle.

I want to like EC given the great reviews it normally receives plus it's affordable price, but I simply can't drink the stuff.

Not sure what you mean by fuzzy, but sometimes with an overly oaky bourbon I get a very dry astringent (for lack of a better term) taste / feel.

EC12 typically isn't that oaky. But, in my experience it is very inconsistent in taste profile from purchase to purchase. That's why I stopped buying it.

Same here, it tastes like metal to me. I'd rather have my toe nails ripped out, before I would try that stuff again.

A dry, lingering fuzzy feeling,; it just doesn't feel like your tongue, mouth and lips. It has a "texture". I did notice the the cork is wet. The bottle has not been turn up to get any product in contact with it; maybe there's something funky with the cork that caused this. Anyway, I'll not be buying any more. Thanks.
