I found a nifty dusty bottle last weekend, cracked it and found one fine, mellow pour.

It's Bellows Club Bourbon, 80 proof, in a liter bottle with a tax stamp and no UPC code. It is stated to be six years old, and a product of "Bellows and Company, Frankfort, KY, An Honored Name since 1830" It is "distributed" by National Distillers, and the blurb on the back label reads as follows:

" The unvarying excellence of this fine Kentucky Bourbon has made it the favorite of those with the highest standards of quality and good taste. Because of its richness of flavor and mellow goodness, the taste for Bellows Club Bourbon has become almost a family inheritance, generation after generation."

It a very respectable pour. It's dark in color, and has a bit of chocolate in the body of a very balanced and mellow taste. Not the world's longest finish, but flavorful, satisfying and with not a hint of harshness. This would be a great everyday pour, that is, of course, if it was 1979!

Not bad for a bottle the perplexed package store owner couldn't scan for a price and charged me the princely sum of five bucks!

I found a couple of pics of the Bellows Club labels, one a 4 year old and a 6 year old.

$5.00 for a liter, not bad.
