Hard to Find Bourbon

Just out of curiosity, I've been looking for the ORVW 10 and 15 year 107 proof bourbon and have not been able to find it anywhere. I live in VA and they definately do not have it. I've looked at Binny's and they don't carry it. InternetWine.com did carry it but they are listed as out of stock. Anybody have a lead on how to get these two bourbons shipped in? Much appreciated.

I've encountered the 10/107 in a couple of shops in MD...just not near VA. Not being Stitzel-Weller whiskey, it just hasn't been on my radar much.

Are you specifically looking for ORVW 15/107? I thought that the Pappy 15 (at 107) basically supplants that version?

'Struth -- the ORVW15/107 hasn't been bottled for 2 years or more, and will not be again. So, there is no more in the distribution chain (other than overlooked stock), so you have to find it on unsearched shelves.

I run into the 10yr from time to time. It's still out there. But, I can't remember the last time I saw the ORVW15, although I have read here of those who have seen caches of it around.

Binny's does have the ORVW 10 year. I saw both 90 and 107 proof bottles on their shelves 10 days ago. In fact, I picked up a 107.

The 15/107 is around, but is depleting fast. Probably from all the hunters out there like myself snatching out the remaining bottles! I have found 7 so far in my hunting. 4 of which I used to trade with another member here. I have 2 bottles in my bunker and one opened left. The 2 in my bunker are from the original place they distilled this stuff (i think Lawrenceburg), but I am not 100% sure on that.

With that said if I ever run into more I will post it here for trade.

It's S-W bourbon. Julian Van Winkle III BOTTLED it at his old Lawernceburg operation. He never distilled there.

The ORVW 15/107 was replaced by Pappy 15 and is currently SW whiskey.....but not for long. This summer's bottling (2007) will likely be the last from SW unless Julian holds some back and ages it longer or tanks it to stop the ageing.

As others have said, you occasionally find older bottles of these two on the shelves. Just recently our local distributor found multiple cases of 10/107 bottled in L'Burg......meaning its SW whiskey inside. I think I've bought two cases so far!

Is the ORVW 15 a SW product? I know you can get ORVW 10/107 but the recent bottles are a BT product. What about the 15 year?

Ok, where can you get some? They don't carry it in VA (at least not the ORWV, I've seen PVW 20 on rare ocassions).

SS, the ORVW15/107 is in high demand for a few reasons.

1) Never to be made again in that squat bottle

2) It's ALL SW whisky

3) It's affordable

4) Most importantly, it's a great bourbon!

5) 2007 is the last year any SW whiskey will be truly 15 years old, counting from the distillery's 1992 demise.

Have seen a few bottles left of the ORVW-15yr around here in Rochester. Premier in Buffalo on the other hand is loaded with it last I checked.... saw 2+ cases on the shelves.

If I may inquire, where in Rochester did you see it? Here in Syracuse, the well is pretty much dry for any upper-end bourbon.

Ok, so I'm back from the warm weather of the caribbean and now back in VA where it's a balmy 35 degrees.

I did some major shopping while in St. Maarten as well as some purchases in San Juan and St. Thomas, but the bulk of my purchases was St. Maarten where the prices are still very cheap. Here's a list of what I bought along with a photo.....

I Found a well stocked liquor store in Phillipsburg St. Maarten. The very nice thing about this store is that you could sample just about every product sold. So, in making my selections, I was able to sample before buying. I bought the Edradour because the sample I tried was so fabulous I had to buy two bottles and because SB folks had suggested I purchase some cask strength Scotch. Same thing with the Bruichladdich. Even though I planned on buying the Blantons, I tried the Gold (103) and found it to be a wonderful pour. I purchased 2 silver, 2 gold and 3 SFTB. I consider this trip very fruitful.

Thanks to all that provided some input and suggestions....those influenced some of my purchasing decisions.

Yeah I'd say so! Never would have thought you'd find those Blanton's in those areas, just goes to show I guess that you have to look everywhere!

Well, there were about 14 of us but only my wife and I counted for our liquor purchases. I claimed all the purchases and customs didn't seem to care that I went over by 50%; I think I had somewhere in the neighborhood of 16 liters and we were allowed 5 liters each. Last time I cruised, the same thing happened. I was over and customs just waived me on through.
