Which do you prefer?

ETL and Eagle Rare 10 year are described similarly. How would you compare them? Which do you prefer?

I enjoy both.

The spicy flavor of ETL often invites another glass.

The sweet, cognac-like flavor of Eagle Rare 10 y/o is more like dessert. One is usually enough.

Both are very, very good. I picked ETL because it's a better value and has never disappointed me.

I enjoy both but I voted for the Eagle Rare because it stands out from my usuals more that the ETL, although I probably drink more of the ETL lately.

Very tough call, but ETL got my vote. Good comparison, I like both a lot. And both stay stocked but the slight, slight edge goes to ETL....

I have to vote ETL. I have only had one bottle of the ER SB but maybe twenty or more bottles of ETL. I would have had more ER SB but for the fact that it is about ten bucks more. Also, I much prefered the old ER 101 to the one bottle of ER SB that I have had and I still have a fair amount of that stashed. Not as much as I would like, but a fair amount.

I don't care fort the licorice (or should I say "liquorice") notes on the ER. So my vote was firmly planted on ETL. BTW, ER was once 101 proof; but not the SB I don't believe.

I have only had one bottle of the ER SB, but the one thing I do remember is that it had more heat, and more alcohol taste than I was accustomed to at the time. Of course I was also drinking it next to EW SB, and it was the most expensive bottle of Bourbon I had ever purchased up to that point. Which is to say that I was still a relative virgin.

I can't vote, since my state does not sell ETL, and I have yet to try it, but I will be giving the ER SB another shot in the near future.

I voted for ETL in a heartbeat though - I've drunk alot of this stuff in the last 3 years or so and it's always been SUPER!!

There is a sweetness/smoothness in ETL that really hits the spot for me every time. After the struggle of breaking the wax seal on ETL it's all good...

I think it's a good pour, but it's almost syrupy at times. I voted ER but I've been sipping on a barrel program selection bottle, so it may not be representative of the usual product.

I find the ETL to vary from barrel to barrel. When I find a bottle I really like I go back and clear off the shelf.

As I understand, ETL is selected by just picking out the absolute sweetest barrels that they can find. I can not locate the post right now, but I know Elmer has been quoted on the selecion process.

I agree with Dave. Both are excellent pours, but I prefer the more luxuriant mouth feel of ETL to ER. To my tastes, ERSB has a lighter body that is less satisfying than ETL. Having said that, however, I'd gladly raise a glass of ER to toast our differences.

I had to go with ETL but I enjoy ER as well. ETL has a multi faceted flavor in my opinion. ER is a good pour but has only two sides, a clean sweet start and a slightly dry medium length finish. There are times when I want something simpler than my usual choices and ERSB fits perfectly.
