Marvin
Just setting here wondering if I have found the most delicious bourbon I have ever tasted - probably not, but it's going to be way up on the list. It is hard to describe how good this bourbon really is - it has toffee, very rich carmel, and the richest vanilla I have ever tasted. At $25.99 this is truly a bargain! I am going to buy three or four cases of it - just in case they may run out. If you want to give your taste buds a real treat try this one! Cheers! Guest **DONOTDELETE**
Marvin this is the part of the forum that I really like best, and that is when we sit down with a bourbon and taste it and compare notes with one another. I bought my bottle of Ezra Brooks Single Barrel 15 years old about half a year ago. It is bottle number 13 and was 'hand bottled' in May of 2000. They don't state a day just the month and year. Marvin's getting a bargin at $26. Mine cost $31 as a special order item in Virginia. The fact that it is a)open and been hanging around for six months or so is somewhat telling as most of the bottles I open have a shelf life of about six hours or less. Marvin and I first met at the Buffalo Trace tasting event at this years bourbon festival. He made several astute observations about several of the whiskies we tasted that afternoon. This instance is no different. Marvin your short description of the Ezra B. is accurate. I might add that Ezra B. has a great deep amber color with a very unique black cherry hue. Now here's where two bourbon enthusiasts drink ostensiblly the same bourbon (single barrels do vary) and arrive at two very different conclusions. I find that the barrel has totally taken over this bourbon, but not quite to the point of being overaged. I feel that this whiskey is past it's prime. I would have liked to have been able to taste it at 10 or 12 years of age. Marvin is going to buy a lot of it. When my bottle is empty I won't be buying another. So who's right? We both are! Marvin has found a bourbon that he enjoys at a price he can afford. I've acquired new knowledge of a bourbon that I hadn't had before. By sharing our viewpoints on the forum everyone benefits. Guest **DONOTDELETE**
I just wanted to bump this thread to compliment Chuck's new Ezra B. posting. It's all in the tasting folks. You either like it or you don't. I still have some of it left over. I took a taste last night, and remain firm. I'll never buy another bottle.Linn SpencerHave Shotglass. Will Travel.
