Well I'm drinking an ESB, from late last month when I brewed it up. Anybody else brew beer? I'd love to make bourbon but I don't have the patience. I have an Oatmeal Imperial Porter aging for another 2 months and it's killling me. No way I could wait 5 years for a bourbon!

any other home brewers?

Enjoying a relaxing evening with Weller 12....nothing else necessary.

Started off with some EC 12 which I always enjoy. Then finished with a pour of Lot B. Great flavor, wonderful finish.

I also opened a bottle J.W. Dant BIB tonight. I must admit that I was intrigued by the label and price. The local store just got these in. There is a definite resemblance to EC 12. The first few sips resulted in a little of that cooked veggie undertone finish that I've heard about with EW 1783. That odd finish was not there when I tried some more a few hours later. I'm sipping some right now and the odd finish is still not there. Interesting. This stuff is a steal at $15 here in Dallas.

I went to a Scotch tasting last night.

Actually, it was a Scotch and chocolate pairing.

Had Dalmore Cigar Malt, Dalmore 12, Laphroaig Quarter Cask, and Laphroaig 10 with various Scharffen Berger chocolates. Pretty informative if you went in not knowing much about Scotch.

When there's free Scotch and little food, I usually end up overestimating my liver. But last night, it was a buddy of mine who got a little out of sorts. I'm feeling pretty good this morning, all things considered.

Oh, and the whiskies were all good. They quarter cask, in particular, I had not cared for when I'd tried it previously. Last night, it seemed spot on.

Anyway, I'll make it up to the Bourbon gods tonight.

A pour of BT followed up by a pour of Makers Mark. When the Makers is finished it will be replaced with Weller 12 and the 107. Haven't tried these 2 but am looking forward to it.

I started out with a pour of Jim Beam Rye, and then went on to open my new bottle of Bulleit, the first I've tried. Bulleit's high-rye mashbill clearly asserts itself - it would be easy to mistake this for a straight rye. The finish is quite long-lasting, with a clove/mint effect to it, and a bit of sizzle at the tip of the tongue.

Booker's!

This is my first one,

Batch No. B95-C-31

8 years 9 months old

126.0 proof

I have read that some find Booker's to be a high proof Knob Creek. I can't argue, I am still in awe of the fact that I like it and it is a Beam.

It is not overly complex, but it has several waves of flavor, vanilla and sweet corn and the taste stays with you a long time.

And for 126 proof, the lack of burn is remarkable.

This is already a favorite of mine.

I will now pour another and toast the memory of Mr. Noe.

This started as a Manhattan w/ 2 1/4 oz. of HH 4/86 bottled in 1980. Added 1/2 oz. sweet vermouth. Then 1/2 oz. triple sec. Then 1/4 oz. each fresh lime juice and fresh oj. 3 dashes Angostura. 2 dashes orange bitters. Flamed an orange twist over the glass.

Yeah. It's pretty good. I'll be playing with the juice component, and may up the sweet vermouth next time, but it's a really nice drink.

I'm boring....Lot B again. It was a toss up between ETL, Old Pogue and Lot B. It's been a long freakin day and I was looking forward to a nice dram of something.....

4-grain vatting: Rittenhouse 100; Weller 107; Weller Louisville (the square bottle one, 10 years old); and some KC. It makes a very full, rye-accented straight whiskey. I am thinking of adding some BMH 18 rye for some additional age and depth.

Came across a store today that had a couple of bottles of RR101. I only got 2, I will leave the others there for a little bit.

But with one open, and never wanting to drink it, I was able to tonight. Man I like this bourbon.

I opened my bottle of Jacob's Well a while back. Every time I try it I like it more and more. For now, its my go-to bourbon. Good thing I have a fairly decent supply nearby.

Now that I have secured a second bottle of the 06 WLW, decided to open the first one this evening. I have this funny rule that I never open a rare or semi-rare bottle until finding a back-up for the bunker.

This is some amazing bourbon! No wonder all the raving positives that have been posted here. WLW 06 is so good that it is making me re-evaluate the above-mentioned personal rule. What if I had never found a 2d bottle or even worse, something happened to me or this bottle thereby preventing me from ever enjoying it? Maybe not such a good rule :skep: ......well, at least not in terms of WLW 06.

WOW! - I may have to go back tomorrow and pick up that last bottle still on the shelf!

I just opened my recent purchase of Weller Centennial with a good pour. Such a nice way to start the weekend. I think I'll follow this with a pour of ORVW 10 year.

Started out the night with what has become a favorite of mine - Ezra B 15. Next, back to my first bottle of WLW 06 that I opened just last night......very, very nice. Think I will call it an evening and let that warm Weller 'hug' put me to sleep for the remainder of the night.

I agree, this is a bourbon that's gotten very tasty as the bottle has dwindled. Good stuff - I think I'll have a pour.

Yeah, I've been nippin' from this stuff tonight too. I busted the cork off, and had to decant it, and it's been a royal pain in the ass.

But I like it!

I'm finishing up a Jim Beam flight - first the rye, then JB Black, now Knob Creek.
