Early 80's Old Crow 80 proof. Not too bad...wish I had a higher proof though.

Tonight I lined up Heaven Hill 80 proof and Heaven Hill BIB. I could not find age statements but HH BIB seemed to be aged better than the 80 proof. The 80 proof is not undrinkable. It's actually not too bad for a youngish tasting whiskey. But I probably won't buy it again. The BIB, however, was bought today for $10.16 including tax. A great value in my opinion but for that price range, AAA, Old Overholt or EW 1783 is a better deal.

Last night it was Makers, followed by some ER 10 YO 101. Why oh why did BT do away with this. I like ERSB 10 YO 90 a lot, but there is something more with the 101. I'm lucky to have a small stash of 4 bottles of the 101. This was phased out right before I started drinking bourbon. I would have bought more if I knew that it was going to be so great, and now so hard to find...BT don't you have the stocks to offer both versions of ER???

Started off with some ER 10YO 90 and followed that up with a couple pours of Baker's while playing Poker. I have maybe one and a half pours left in that bottle. Gonna have to make a Total Wine and Spirits run so I can pick up at least a couple bottles of this to have around. I just love how the glass starts smelling like Candy about halfway through a pour. :yum:

Looks like this weekend I'll have my first post in the Empty Support Group thread. :skep:

Last night I was craving OGD, so I started with the BIB and continued with 114. The BIB seemed to have a more grainy taste, while the 114 seemed sweeter. Both were excellent... nothing else in my collection would have scratched my bourbon itch that night. Most of my stash is older bottlings, but there's something fantastic about a well made bourbon (or rye) on the younger side.

Finished with a tiny pour of VWFRR13 for comparison. Wasn't doing it for me, so I gave up and went to bed happy.

Tonight, I'm starting with a pour of BTEC '06 Twice Barreled. Amazingly smooth! I don't know what to pour after it - am thinking the '05 WLW.

Earlier I cracked open the Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey.......... I'd like to say I loved it, shoot I'd like to say I liked it, but to me it tasted like flat day old warm beer distilled to a higher strength. I'll try again later, in a few days.

90 degrees. Top down weather.

Cooling off with a Woodford Reserve on the rocks; bottom of the bottle. Checked the basement and there's one in reserve.

Joe's Stone Crab for dinner in a few hours; will be interesting to see what they have.

I have crab envy.

Today, I am working on a bottle of Weller 107. Gosh this is a good tasting, inexpensive pour. Something tells me that this is better product than the label or price tag implies.

Last night, I was drinking JD Old no 7, and way too much of it :drinking::drink::icon_pidu::falling:

Today, I'm regretting it. All things in moderation........

Tonight we have guests coming over, I imagine it will be a good selection of bourbons, will post later.

Sapphire & Tonic again. I've got to open something better than this bottle of Old Forester. I don't care for it, and I don't want to polish off the Booker's or the PVW 20 yo, and so I find that I'm never in the mood for bourbon...

What's an easy mixed drink to make with bourbon that doesn't involve coke? I need to get rid of this OF100...

I'm just working my up to a bourbon, but right now its a Dry Creek Chenin Blanc.

This is by far the best time of year for the local farmer's market.

I whipped up a dish of handmade tortellini stuffed with arugula and parmagiano reggiano, soaked in a broth of fresh parsley, new garlic, white wine, olive oil and a dash of red pepper flakes. Garnished it with fresh parsley, basil and heirleoom tomatoes. Sopped up the juice with local herb focaccia.

Stand Back. I'm working up to a cigar and bourbon on the deck night.

I started out with a couple of pours of Caravella Limoncello, ice cold - the first neat, the second mixed about 2:1 with San Pellegrino sparkling mineral water. Both were lovely - I had to force myself to put the bottle back in the freezer.

Now, to follow up, some of my Weller 107 - it's nice to have an old favorite back on my shelf...

What's an easy mixed drink to make with bourbon that doesn't involve coke? I need to get rid of this OF100...

It's hard to get much simpler than the old reliable Manhattan.

Starting with Lot B, then I think I am going to try Weller 12. I read in a post that someone was told they are the same or heard they were the same??? cant remember... Going to see for myself.

Now don't get me wrong, I like Weller 12 but, it aint no Lot B...

I know they are both 90 proof 'rs but the Weller drinks like a higher proof than the VW. And compared to the Lot B, it has kind of a metallic taste that I haven't ever noticed. But the Lot B has a little more spice taste. I don't know, one of you guys that's a lot more descriptive than me should write this up....

Try mixing with either 7up or Squirt. OF is too mellow/sweet for Coke, but goes well with the sour-type flavors.

I use 1:1:1, Ice, add bourbon, stir until chilled, add Squirt.

Began with something different, a half pour of Germain-Robin Fine Alambic Brandy. This is Germain-Robins least expensive brandy but still quite good. Sweet with spice notes and a warming presence on the palate.

Next finished the last of the OGD BIB. Pure banana, brown sugar, and pecan sweetness. Just heavenly.. need another bottle ASAP.

Finishing with Highland Park 18. Sometimes I can detect peat in this one but not tonight. Honey, honey, and more honey.

Never have I mixed such different spirits together in one evening with such great results.
