tango-papa
Definitely not a gun. It is a Transcutaneous Electronic Nerve Stimulator which is used for muscle stimulation. In short, I have a bad back and use it to relax the muscles. However, a gun next to my whiskey might be a good idea. Don't mess with the stash!!! But of course... My second guess would have been "it's a Transcutaneous Electronic Nerve Stimulator!" Enjoying a WT RR101 this evening. ~tp

CrispyCritter
First, a pour of Wild Turkey Rye, and now an oversize pour of Bulleit to clear out the bottle. Yes, I will be replacing it (and decanting it into the now-empty signed bottle)...I'm thinking of having a limoncello to serve as a nightcap. snakster
Tonight was the final pour of my Jefferson's Reserve followed by a 50mL bottle of Knob Creek that I picked up tonight.
Cornman
BMH Small Batch. Pretty nice with a good streak of rye in there, but is it worth the $40 it costs here? Not sure yet.

This used to be easy to get around here but since I cant find it anymore, I have to be selective about when I get to drink it. To bad cause I really like it.. CrispyCritter
When I stopped at my nearby Binny's tonight, I came across Stirrings Authentic Grenadine - yes, honest-to-God grenadine with real pomegranate juice and cane sugar instead of Red #40 and corn syrup. So, I started fishing CocktailDB for something that called for grenadine and could be made with ingredients on hand.First stop: a variation on the Chinese Cocktail, with mine using Appleton Special gold rum, and Cointreau instead of generic Curaçao. Scrumptious!Followup: a shot of limoncello. I just can't resist. Then, I tried something called an Eau du Nil. Big mistake, to the point of being the only cocktail I've ever poured down the sink. Even the Mexican Eagle I had a long while back wasn't this bad. :puke:Now: a nice pour of Fall 2005 Stagg, to wipe away the horror of that nasty drink. TBoner
Bowmore 12.I just finished cleaning up after cooking and serving a 5-course dinner w/paired wines for my wife and 11 of her girlfriends. It's an annual birthday tradition, and it always wipes me out. But, I get to bank serious points for my efforts. And I enjoyed a nice 2003 Zenato Valpolicella while serving. The Bowmore is a nice, unchallenging, familiar, and comforting pour. It's late, but I don't have to work tomorrow, so some ND OGD BIB may be next.
heatmiser
Hit up the Padre game and then went down the scotch path with a buddy of mine. Started with Glenmorangie 10 year 100 proof (WOW!) and then proceeded with:Cadenhead's Macallan-Glenlivet 21 (not very good)Glenfiddich 15 Solera Reserve (good easy everyday drinker)Glenfarclas 25 (damn that's good)Macallan 12 (over-rated)What a wee lovely night it was... nickynick
Last night it was whiskey Wednesday at the Spoke, so I took the opportunity to try something new and watch the Cubs game. Started with a Rock Hill farms, it was nice, sweet, and a very small bite at the end. I thought it was good, but I don't think I'll pay $45 for a bottle. Now I know. Followed that with a Birthday Bourbon, not sure what release it was, but it was good. Cinnamon spice with a bit vanilla, not as sweet as the Rock Hill Farms. I liked it a great deal. Last was a WT101, knew what I was getting, and it was exactly what I wanted. Good news: Got to try two new bourbons for $10, Bad news: Cubs lost. jwrussell
EWSB '95 tonight. Don't care for it with ice, first one I've had that happen with. I've had some I liked MORE without ice, but I just don't care for EWSB on ice.

ggilbertva
Took the day off from work and spent it with my wife celebrating 21 years of marriage. CrispyCritter
First, a little gem from CocktailDB called the Openheim, basically a Manhattan jazzed up with (in my case real) grenadine. Rittenhouse BIB and Carpano Antica Formula provided the backbone of the drink. Then, the inevitable limoncello (mixed with San Pellegrino this time), followed by Bernheim Straight Wheat. Now, a small pour of WT Rye for the nightcap...
Jazzhead
I'm sipping tonight at some Old Fitz BIB. This is the current stuff, from DSP -1, and it may not be Stitzel Weller but it is as fine as fine can be. I love the mouthfeel - the proof is perfect to give some kick to the basic smoothness. This is round, balanced whiskey, sweet and delicious. I'm down to two fingers' worth, and I'll need to travel a hundred miles to get more. That's not a lament, that's an event - Road Trip! That's not a lament, that's an event - Road Trip!I've not had the current iteration of the Old Fitz BIB. I love the S-W era version, of course. Hmm, maybe I better give it a try...Why 200 miles? NJ doesn't carry it?• • •I enjoyed some Fox tonight - Virginia Gentleman 90pf. This is one of those bourbons I have to be in the mood for. Many days it doesn't appeal to me. Tonight, however, it was just fine. The finish is rather metallic (coppery) and flinty. It starts sweet but ends very dry. I think the reason I am ambivalent about it is I tend not to prefer bourbons that end too dry. I think that's why I don't usually drink Elijah Craig 18, or even the Hirsch gold foil. TNbourbon
Wouldja believe (wait for it!) a pineapple bomb? Well, we're limited, sometimes, by the ingredients available to us. I had 1 part bourbon (I used 2006 ER 17), 1-1/2 part amaretto (a diSaronno mini), and 3 parts pineapple juice (Dole, from a Malibu rum package that hasn't sold well at the store). Shaken, with the ice poured into the glass.Ya know, I might (after pumping up the bourbon just a bit) just have to replenish the amaretto -- this ain't bad of a sultry evening! Hell, I might book a cruise tomorrow!
