SBOmarc
With The Queen of England and her husband attending the Kentucky Derby, I can surmise that somewhere along the trip some American Whiskey will be offered. The question posed is this, What would your choice pour be? Of course the marketing machinery will let us all know when it happens, but what would you serve if the Royals were on your porch, in your parlour, or even in your gazebo? barturtle
Well, even though bourbon has been recognized as a distinctive product of the United States, the label laws say that it cannot carry any insignia or mark that may be seen as approval by the government (Armed Forces, Flag, etc). Therefore, I don't believe that any of the American whiskies could be fit for a queen. However, The Crown happens to recognize many of its native spirits, so she would get a hefty dram of Royal Lochnagar. The only other option would be moonshine...showing that the citizens of the New World are just as likely to stick it to the current government as they were back when they were subject to the laws of The Crown. CrispyCritter
Basing this on bottles I've tasted, I'd be thinking Lot B, Saz 18, or ER17. If they were interested in something stronger, PVW 15, WLW '06, or Handy. No, I wouldn't ask them to leave; I'd consider such a visit to be an honor, even though we did fight a war to kick out the monarchy, and even though I don't really pay much attention to the royal family. SBOmarc
Let's assume that they can read and have been paying attention for the past 230 years. They know who won the war. I will also submit that an Irish or a Sc%&* would be prefered. We sent the Invitation, let's be great hosts.

Remember, when dealing with forigners you are representing your country. There is no point in holding a 230 year old grudge. The English are our best allies. And that's comming from someone who is half Irish.Eagle Rare single Brl. would be an obvious choice to offer our guests both for it's imagery and overall quality. TNbourbon
...The English are our best allies...The Aussies are our best allies. Nonetheless, you'd serve Her Majesty the best you have in the house, whatever it is.

If she gets the best, what's left for us Aussies??? I think the old lady would just be happy with some tea. I've seen KY Derby bottles of Crown Royal Special Reserve, after all, Crown Royal was introduced in 1939 to commemorate the visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to Canada. That might be her drink (in her tea ) If she came to my house (I would mow the lawn), I wouldn't let her drink my Crown Royal XR, but she could have a sniff if she so pleased. I may open a Stagg or Pappy 20 for her (she's not having any 23 until she joins SB.com), although she would have to try the Slate bourbon first, just so she knows how good she's got it:lol: Scott
Edward_call_me_Ed
Bet you they serve her an Early Times Kentucky Whiskey (not bourbon) Mint Julip. What would I server her if she stopped by? I would let her look over the stash and let her chose her own poison, like I would anyone else. Now, if it looked as if she were going to put a big dent in an irreplacable bottle I would gently steer her towards something else, like I would with anyone else.Ed
ThomasH
Being that I live in the USA, have survived nearly 41 years without a day in jail and considering my home and the surrounding area would be full of secret service people, think I would let them pick whatever they wanted to drink!Thomas
cowdery
I can't speak for Liz and Phil, but their boy Andy was a bit of a dick when he opened George Washington's distillery last year, since he made a point of repeatedly telling everyone he doesn't drink. I suppose it could have been said in an unoffensive way, but that bunch can't seem to open their mouths without sounding condescending. Except for the part about being bloody fucking rich, I don't envy them. What a ludicrous existence. To the point, though, I suspect Liz and Phil would prefer a nice G&T. Well, I think I would serve him a nice tall glass of water right out of the hydrant in my yard. It bypasses the hydrogen sulfide/iron filter and my water softener. See how he likes that rotten egg stench!! If he is too good to drink my whiskey!!!
