I like...what else?

I'm sure these types of threads get boring, so I'll ask for your indulgence.

I'm fairly new to the bourbon world and after a taste of George T. Stagg started me off on a hunting spree, I've been trying to expand my selection of good bourbons.

I absolutely love the Stagg, and Knob Creek is my go-to bourbon.

I have Woodford Reserve and Makers Mark in my stable as well, but both are "light" for my tastes (the Woodford is just bland in my opinion).

I also have a bottle of ER 17yr that I just picked up and though I've had a couple pours, I haven't passed judgment yet.

So, I'm asking for suggestions considering that my two favorites are the KC and the GTS.

I plan on hitting the local shop on my way home to pick up a bottle of the 101 WT Russell's Reserve (come on, look at my name, I have to!) and they also have one lone example of the WTRB sitting there as well.

Should I grab both? Am I likely to like them? As far as I can tell my tastes seem to lean towards the more in your face (flavor wise) pours.

Pick up both of them. No experience with the WTRR 101 but from what I read it is a great pour. The WTRB is also very good. I would also suggest you give OGD 114 a try. I think you will like it.

Well, it turns out the RR was the 90 proof so I left it on the shelf, I'll keep looking for the 101. Picked up a bottle of Bakers instead, along with the WTRB. I'll have to try the OGD 114, thank you.

It sounds like you like a lot of age, which is unlucky for you since those tend to be expensive. That doesn't mean you have to jump right to Pappy 23, however. A good choice for you might be the Elijah Craig 18-year-old. You might also be good with Elijah Craig 12 and even Evan Williams Single Barrel, which is the same age as your Knob, at nine years. Other possibilities are Weller 12 and any of the other Buffalo Trace Antiques you happen to find, such as the William LaRue Weller and Sazerac Rye. My guess is that EC 18 will hit your sweet spot. If it doesn't, then I'll need a new theory.

I would suggest a bottle of Elijah Craig 18yo, which is my very favorite bourbon. Then I would suggest a bottle of Booker's, which is a barrel proof bourbon. Both are not obscenely expensive, although they are at the very top of what I like to spend (about $31 or so for the EC18, and $43 for the Bookers is what I pay).

Thanks for the suggestions folks, I'll definately have to search out some EC18. And I've been planning on picking up some Booker's as well. Might as well as I've already made a decent start on that family of bourbons with the Knob and Bakers.

You might try Eagle Rare 10 yr. or at the younger end of the spectrum, Buffalo trace. You should notice the family resemblance to Stagg.

Well, I just managed a bottle of Elijah Craig 18 year in a trade with a very generous gentleman from this board, so I will have to crack that bottle next and give it a shot.
