I’m just wondering which one you like best between Knob Creek and Wild Turkey Rare Breed.

I know there are many other options out there, but I have a friend who has a nice bunker and he is so happy I’ve decided to pursue bourbon as a hobby that he gave me an unopened bottle of each as a gift. All he asks is that after both bottles are finished, I tell him which I liked the most and why.

So…I have already had KC before (about 8 bottles in all) and loved it. I have not tried WTRB yet but I had already planed on it anyway.

I will ultimately tell him what my opinion is…but I would still like to hear what everyone on SB would pick in a KC vs. WTRB match…and why. I’m betting that WTRB will be the winner.

My friend is going to turn me on to a little PVW after I finish this taste test. I’m not for sure if it’s the 20 or 23 year stuff…not that I would be complaining either way.

No contest for me. The Rare Breed wins every time. Just more going for it and extremely rich.

I have yet to open my bottle of Rare Breed so I can't say. Do love my Knob Creek though. If I open my RB anytime soon I'll come back to this thread and post my thoughts.

Difficult i like RB but Knob is also very nice...yeh i go for Knob Creek!Eric.

For me the sign of a good bourbon is when you have it for the first time and make yourself sick on it because it's so smooth and you can't stop. Rare Breed did that for me. I was off of bourbon for two months after that--but returned to RB--it's the best.

Well, as I expected, WTRB is coming in a strong first.

Tonight I will crack open my bottle of WTRB and give it a whirl!

About the KC…don’t get me wrong, I love the stuff…but it seems like it tasted better to me back about 2000-2001ish when I first started drinking it. Maybe it’s just me.

Hyper, have you tried Baker's? If not, be sure to pick some up. Big family resemblance to Knob Creek and better (IMHO) in certain ways. I still love Knob, but I've been draining the bottle of Baker's I recently picked up at an alarming rate.

Hi Dawn,

It’s a "barcode" meaning ∞∞∞∞...my fellow Hoosier.

I see you’re a little south of Indy. :toast:

WTRB wins this one easy.

You did not ask but I prefer Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit.

It is my all-tmie fave.

Well, I tried WTRB tonight. I was very Impressed…with a capital “Iâ€. I thought it would be a little more “stout†in view of the fact that it’s 108.2 proof. I believe it will get my nod in the end, but I want to drink most if not all the bottle before I conclude if I like it better then KC100 or not. I see no need to rush to judgment.

Both are very good (and if rare in your area, worth bunkering), but I'd seconded the vote for WTRB.

After multiple sessions with WTRB and KC, I'm declaring WTRB wins for me. I still love KC!
