As I mentioned in an earlier thread, I can no longer get my usual mail order houses to sell and ship Bourbon to me in Oklahoma. The bunker is getting depleted so I plan on taking a roadtrip to Dallas pretty soon and need the names of a couple of nice liquor stores to visit. I will be looking on stocking up on staples like BT, ETL, Sazarac Jr., and Wellers. I also would like to find some rareties (for me here in OK) like Wathens, Bartons, Four Roses, some Kulsveen stuff, and Virginia Gentleman. Lastly it would be wonderful to fill up on some limited edition stuff like Saz 18, WLW, BTAC etc.

Any ideas?

Hey Rob, one of my favorite places is Goody Goody Liquors on Greenville Ave. They have a great selection and prices. That's where I got last year's Stagg for $99 per 3 bottle case. Its a large store and also has a nice wine department. Sigel's is a local chain and has a good selection too. They have a large store also on Greenville. I've been disappointed in Red Coleman's selection in the past.

Thanks Randy. I figured that you might know your way around Dallas.

Dallas is mostly dry.....so the liquor stores are often lined up side by side in the wet areas. The town of Addison in North Dallas has some large stores for all the major chains in Dallas. But Goody Goody on upper Greenville is a good bet.

I agree that Goody Goody has the best prices and general selection. But, I have sometimes found bottlings at Centennial or Sigels that were not in stock at Goody Goody. In other words, if you can't find what you are looking for at Goody Goody, try Centennial or Sigels. They have various locations in Dallas.

Hey, RedVette:

I feel your Oklahoma pain :) I was just in Dallas last week, and popped into the Goody Goody on Oak Lawn, which had a pretty decent selection. I haven't been to the other locations, though.

Some time ago, I did really well at a Centennial in the Ft. Worth area, but I can't remember exactly which one it was. There is a very large Centennial just off of I-35E on the east side of the highway (on Stemmons, I believe) - I haven't been in that one, but it looks like a nice location.

Given our respective predicament, we may have to start some sort of Oklahoma bootlegging society :D I tend to be in the Dallas area pretty frequently for business, and on my next run I would be happy to take orders and bring back the goods for whomever is interested. Hell, maybe we could even put together a tasting sometime. If you do run across some extreme rarities, I would greatly appreciate a heads-up as to what you find.

Cheers,

--b

I was in the DFW area last weekend. Didn't see any VG, ETL or Wathens. Four Roses and Very Old Barton dont make it to TX. I did see Saz Jr., Weller, Bt and some Sam Houston. I went by three or four stores in both Dallas and FW. I saw absolutely nothing in Fort Worth. The store in Dallas is at northwest hwy and I-35east. There are many in that area. Good hunting.

This may be too late but, Goody Goody (any location) has a good selection and good prices. Also, Majestic Liquors has a fair selection, good prices, and helpful/friendly staff. Big Daddy's is a bit pricey but they will sometimes have the more hard-to-find stuff (ex. GTS, PVW 20 yo) in stock.
