mred
Can someone give me a quick answer to the difference in taste?
wadewood
What is Reg? I'm guessing you want comparison between Rye and Bourbon Whiskey?Rye whiskey follows same standards as bourbon, except primary grain (more than 50%) is rye. With Bourbon, the primary grain is corn. IMHO, Ryes are more spicy and robust; sometimes peppery and/or dark fruit notes.
gothbat
I haven't tried many ryes nor do I drink it often but imo it is similar to bourbon in taste and I can definitely agree that there is more pepper/spice in the flavor. Personally I don't find it more robust than bourbon but this may very well change once I've tried a few more brands. I wasn't really trying to compare it to bourbon when I was drinking it but I am often reminded of WT101 when I drink rye. Now that you got me thinking about it I think I will have to have more rye soon so I can see how accurate my memory is, among other things.
