Phischy
Many thanks to heatmiser who pointed me in the right direction for finding GTS '06 and others who pointed me to places unfortunately too far away to justify driving. So during lunch today I escaped work to go bourbon hunting. 1st shop took the longest b/c the manager really went the difference to track it down and says he can order it. Unfortunately I went up the street and found GTS on the shelf. If anyone in the San Diego region is looking for GTS '06 the manager at Avenue Liquors will supposedly have a bottle on Monday 8-6 for $59. I need to call him back and cancel. On the shelf I found 2 bottles and 1 bottle of Van Winkle Lot B. Now I have never seen either on the shelf before so it took me about 10 seconds to decide to take the plunge and buy all 3. 1 GTS is going to a buddy for his birthday.I've heard tell of "Lot B" before and a search didn't turn up the orgions. Is this a limited run? The bottling was less than impressive, but if it keeps overhead low then I won't argue. Lot B also wasn't a bourbon of the month so I didn't read about it there either. GTS was $50/bottle and Lot B was $40.
heatmiser
Glad you went and picked it up! Let me know if you are interested in some '05 GTS as well as I know where there is a small stash north of San Diego. You may have to drive a bit but it will be worth it!!! Lot B is a regular pour for me...in fact, I just emptied a bottle. $40 is a bit high but if you really like it, then it's worth it. You can't go wrong with GTS or Lot B...enjoy. Phischy
I've only ever seen Lot B the 1x. Although the GTS was priced excellent at $50 as I know of a nother place selling it for $70. Beggars can't be choosers sometimes.
