I'm sure someone here knows, but is the person running "The Bourbon Connection" or "The Collectible Connection" on this board?

If push comes to shove and you Can't find it locally, what's everyone's opinions on these sellers?

And lastly, when doing a search for multiple words do you use single quotes 'bourbon connection' or "bourbon connection" either way, when I do the search function it brings up every thread.

Thnx

I got the exact same problem. I don’t have it on any other internet site though.

Just my opinion, but I think the Bourbon Connection is way over priced and at times misleading. For instance, right now there's a bottle of Pappy 20 year for $109.95 plus shipping. That bourbon can be purchased from Shoppersvineyard.com for $69.95 plus shipping. A difference of $40....which I think is significant. There are some, I'm sure, that purchase from them because they can't find those items in there location (e.g. overseas).

It's also possible they live in a state that SV won't ship to? I didn't look at the site, but I know that's a problem for some...

No idea if those guys are members here but I have done business with The Collectible Connection a few times and the bottles I bought were ones that are no longer available; since then I've only had the chance to buy one of them at a store. I like having the opportunity to buy these limited and out of production bottles but I think the prices are a bit high and they continue to climb. The one thing I don’t like is the current bottlings they are trying to sell at more than 2x retail, these guys don’t live by me or anything so it doesn't really affect me but the thought of someone racing out to the store, buying up all of, say, the BTAC’s when they hit the shelves (maybe they don't do this, there are other possibilities but this is what I picture) so they can try to sell them to me at a much inflated price annoys me. That is their privilege for getting to them first though, it's like anything else (Nintendo Wii, PS3, Elmo TMX, etc...). I just know some year I’m not going to get any of them and wind up buying some on ebay or someplace equally overpriced. I will say this, every one of my orders was shipped the next business day (I’m really big on this with everything I buy online.) and very well packaged.

I did a little digging on ebay and found that both Collectible Connection and Bourbon connection are ebay stores maintained by individuals that both are in Kentucky. There used to be another store on ebay called wine depot that also sold bourbon that was out of Mt. Sterling KY. but after some delivery problems, I think this one closed up. I have always contended that the individuals that have these ebay stores either have good connections to liquor stores or actually own liquor stores. I buy and sell minis on ebay, and whenever new minis come out, they are always from the same few sellers from a select few areas. These people obviously get advanced notice of new product launches and then order tons of minis. Sometimes the larger sizes are out for months before any minis come onto the market. However, these same few always seem to have the newest minis as soon as they are available!

I would be really interested to know exactly what is considered "no longer available"? One bottle...two???

In Ebay's mind, that would be anything they have not been specifically told is a violation of their policy(and they would likely have to be told every time). If they don't know it's wrong, they ain't gonna miss out on the sales...

I guess that I am more interested in the buyers perception of "no longer available". In my last 8 months of "hunting"...I have seen a great number of labels, both old and new. Up to that point, they were all rare. After finding a store or town full odd labels, they just didn't seem that rare anymore. There are tons of wierd bourbons in stores in every city, you just have to go look.

Hope I didn't confuse the subject.....I'm watching some baseball while typing.

This post prompted me to take a look...now I remember why I don't look! Good Grief......Gotta love that 'No Longer Available" line they all use!

About the only thing really not available to us..... is the stuff from the guy in Japan. And heck, I just need to find someone going to Japan to get me the $90 item he's selling for $179 plus $50 shipping! When's the next business trip J??

OK....I'm going to pick on e-bay buyers this time. (Don't get me going on the sellers!) Did ya see that another guy with more money than brains paid $98 plus shipping for an ORVW 15/107?!?! And it wasn't even a Lawrenceburg bottle!!!

Let's see...$45 shelf price when it was available. Pappy 15 is available, and yes, we've established the fact that the ORVW might me a little better than the Pappy 15......but for that kind of money difference? I'll keep hunting for mine on shelves.....and drinking Pappy 15!!!!
