Thought I would start a thread that could help when making a trip to your local store. This store in Austin has sales every weekend. If anyone else wants to post thier local prices, here is the place.

I'm afraid my eyes aren't up to the task.

I finally found bourbon in the lower, right-hand corner, and I can almost make the names.

The prices don't come through at all.

Then again, maybe it's time for the cataract surgery I've been putting off for two years.

Yours truly,

Dave Morefield

I had LASIK done and while I was a good cannidate and paid out the butt ($5000 subsidized by my work) I've been very unhappy. I'm wearing glasses again. Sucks. I need to go back, I love going in for an appointment wearing my glasses and striking up conversations. Espically if they make me wait, I'll tell people I had the surgery done there and they'll see my glasses on and think "Wait a minute..." and suddenly my 30 minute wait is down to a 30 second wait as they whisk me to the back for my checkup. ha!

Sky High, Alabama never has sales. Just the unlucky closeouts will be marked down.

What he said. :frown: Nor do we have a very good selection, especially of bourbons.

Prices are about 15 percent than what you posted here in Mass. About the same price up the road in New Hampshire.

Last time I was in Colorado, I thought thier prices were rock bottom. They don't have the middle man mark up. Anyone able to confirm current prices and availability?

You can be thankful you have great sale prices in your area. In Ohio, a 1.75L of Jim Beam black now costs 42.50, recently increased 3.00+ a bottle. The JD black runs about the same, which is a fair amount more than the sale prices elsewhere!

IIRC, $42.50 could buy a handle of KC or Woodford here. Sounds like it's time for you to join all the OSU fans here in Austin. Our slogin should be: Austin, We make drinkin' affordable.

I have been told a statistic that Texas consumes 20% of the nations alcohol. Not sure how accurate that is though.

Reinforcing the previous comments about Alabama being an absolute suck-ass state in which to live for us bourbon drinkers ...

Knob Creek 750 ml $27.99/$18.99 AL ABC = $32.99

Jack Daniels1.75 ltr $41.99/$30.99 AL ABC = $46.99

Wild Turkey 101 750 ml$19.99/$15.99 AL ABC = $21.49

Maker's Mark 1.75 ltr $44.99/$33.99 AL ABC = $53.49

I could go on, but being sufficiently depressed already, I'll stop.

Larry

p.s. If you don't like these prices, you can always go to a privately-owned store, where they'll typically run about 40% higher, at least in my area. The other day, at the store in which I buy beer, I saw a 375ml of MM priced at a staggering $18.99 ...
