Recommendations for bourbon in Europe?

Hello all-

My brother is in Germany for school but coming back around Christmas. I've already asked him to bring me a bottle of the Europe only Four Roses single barrel 86 proof. What else should I make this mofo fetch for me?

I would also grab a bottle of Markers Mark black label. It's a higher proof...not sure if the recipe is any different.

In searching the web, I saw a few liquor sites in Europe. Can't think of any names, though. They had lot's of labels and pics of the bottles.

Makers Mark black was Japan release only, and they stopped making it a couple of years ago.

Germany did, however, have the Gold wax 101 proof. Something that may still be found there somewhere, long out of production.

Both of them are much deeper in color than red wax.

I just purchased a 2nd bottle of each and can't wait to try them.

Bill is supposed to be coming to Australia soon, maybe I will be able to enjoy some with him!

WT 12 is widely available and cheap. Another one that can be found with some luck is Forester 96 witch was made for the Olympics in Atlanta.

Just a word of warning: when it comes to stuff like Maker´s black and Forrester Olympic reserve, don´t expect too find these (or any other specialist stuff) at normal liquor stores.

The stores that carry suchlike items specialize in mail order to connoisseurs and collectors and are usually located way off the big cities.

OK, I see. It seems to be a UK release.

Please note, though, that despite the existence of the European Union, Europe is still mostly a geographical denomination. A whiskey available in Sweden won´t necessarily be found on the shelves in Belgium. I have, for instance, never seen JTS Brown in Germany on which the starter of the thread based his question.

That's the proper name of the bourbon, but it stands for John Thompson Street Brown...it's what Fast Eddie drank in The Hustler!
