jon_carter13
I was home on R&R Leave back in April of this year, when I went to what I will call a "Toy's R Us" of Liquor Stores. I was looking to buy a fine aged bourbon for sipping, and a bottle of Wild Turkey Tribute (WTT) cought my eye. I was afraid to pay the $100 price tag, but I am not glad that I did after finding out that this was a one time bottling. I still have yet to open the bottle, as I am saving it's contents for special occasions. I have looked online and it seems that the WTT has gone way of the do-do bird because it has sold so well.Having yet opened my bottle of WTT, I am pondering two things.Number one, use it to drink on special ocassions.Number two, hold on to it to see if it becomes of value.Does anyone know how much a bottle sells for now? I feel that I am lucky to have found it at the face value considering the circumstances.
SBOmarc
I have no idea what it fetches if it can be found, but I paid $90 for my one and only bottle right about this time last year. Drink it.
cowdery
You might be able to get a modest profit reselling it. I don't know how much it's going to appreciate, especially since they're bringing out a very similar product as an ongoing item. Significant appreciation seems like a long shot.Personally, I don't buy the whole "special occasions" idea. To me, it's a romantic notion that frequently doesn't pan out in practice. The expression "gilding the lily" succinctly explains my reservations. If the bottle is special because of its contents and not because of some other association (a coincidence of dates, for example), then opening and tasting it is the special occasion for which it is most suitable. kbuzbee
I was lucky enough to get several bottles from a friend here (thanks Tim!) that I open for our fall season. Our anniversary, MBW's birthday and my birthday occur over a 2 month period. I find it the perfect pour to celebrate. I'll probably move to American Spirit once the Tributes are gone. If I had only one I'd probably do the same thing with it. It's a great Bourbon. I wouldn't save it forever waiting for just the right moment, still, it seems a great choice for certain occasions.Ken
