TimmyBoston
Recently I purchased a somewhat rare bottle off Ebay. It's around 10 years old. It is unopened and all the seals are still intact, but approximately 3/4 ounce has already evaporated. I don't want to lose any more of this whiskey as I don't plan to open it for a while, Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. barturtle
Use the search function to find out about something called parafilm.
smokinjoe
I'm wondering if Glad's Press n Seal plastic wrap may do the trick as well. It is a plastic wrap that gives a very good seal to most things by pressing on it. It also will release without leaving any residue behind. It seems to offer similar benefits to Parafilm, and can be purchased at your neighborhood grocery store. And, in that it is a polyethelene based film, it would have a very good moisture transmission rate. JOE
cowdery
I would question your assumption that 3/4 ounce has been lost through evaporation. That small amount could easily be accounted for by variances in fill level. If there really seems to be evaporation, perhaps the bottle was stored improperly, either too hot or not upright. Keep it upright and cool and evaporation shouldn't be an issue. However, something like Parafilm would provide another level of confidence. mozilla
I agree with Chuck on this one. Many bottles have different fill levels. Turkey for one has a very low fill level. Looks like someone took a drink and then sealed it up again.
