Has anyone had this? I've only seen it in 1 liquor store and they have 2 bottles of it. Not cheap at $99.99 ea, but I'm curious.

They also have their XO super reserve, the last of the bottles from one of their disitlleries. Is this just the last of their production or is it 'special' in anyway? Way too expensive to just try but I know a bunch of crown fanatics.

I've tried it, it is excellent, the flavors both of the brandy and whiskies mingle very well.

The XR is not as good in my view.

I saw the title of the thread and immediately thought: How nice, that might be something that gets me to actually buy a Canadian whiskey and then I saw the price. :slappin:

I'd def like to try it, but with all the other great bourbon about to be released...I can't justify it.

I have a bottle but am waiting for my friend who is a Crown fan to join me in cracking it. Probably next weekend...

I tried it when my sales rep came around with it and I REALLY didn't like it.

I'm trying to remember what my overriding impression of it was. I seem to remember that I just didn't like the cognac flavor to it (I like cognac, though.)

Just seemed bizarre and overpriced to me.

Its definitely the best product in the Crown line... I really don't like any Canadian whisky as there is hardly any flavor in my opinion, and XR seems to have the least flavor of all! But the cognac finish gives the Cask 16 great flavor. At $100 it is pretty steep, but its pretty good whisky

Phischy,

In answer to your question about the XO. I have a friend that only drinks one Whiskey and smokes only one cigar. Crown Royal and Cuban Cohibas. Personally I think they both suck but that is just me. When the XO came out he started buying every bottle he could find. After spending several thousand dollars on XO, I asked him why. He said that the original distillery in Waterloo Ontario was closed in 1992 and a special stock of Crown was stored there. In 1993 the distillery burned to the ground and only "Some" of this "special" blend was saved.

XO the legend was born. :) (with sarcasm)

He said this was the last year it would be released so he had to get all he could. After doing about 10 minutes of research I found that what was saved will be released in limited amounts "EACH YEAR" until the stock is gone. As I am sure most of you know, that could be for the next 30 years at about $160.00 a bottle.

My friend has a lot of Crown XO.

:)
