i've tried to find any magazine on bourbon or whisk(e)y at my local Borders and B&N...but nothing. just the cigar or beer or wine-n-food mags.....

i noticed online there is http://www.whiskymag.com/ which appears to be of euro origin...

anything out there worth checking out on a regular basis?

and while we are at it, what are some recommendable books on bourbon...i DO know that chuck has a highly recommended volume...one i gotta get!

cheers

thanks chuck! looks good! i already like your twin interests of bourbon and blues......being from mississippi and a blues fan, i might have to pass on a bottle buy and shoot for your book(s)! lots more to discuss on all that!

appreciate the link.

now what do you say about that euro mag, Whisky?

Chuck is being modest. He IS the pre-eminent source of American whiskey information, and most of it can be found right here. Still, check out Whisky Magazine, to which he frequently contributes -- I've found it at Barnes & Noble occasionally. Malt Advocate also can be found there in limited quantities. Their editors, Dominic Roskrow and Jon Hansell, respectively, have been known to grace SB.com gatherings in Bardstown and environs. They're learning.

And, subscribe to Chuck's Bourbon County Reader, and buy his book-length compendium, Bourbon, Straight. Check Amazon.com for the latter.

I have my local newsagent special order Whiskey Magazine from the UK each month. Costs about $15 AU ($13.80 US)

They cover something on bourbon most months (often the bourbon articles are by Chuck  ), and every few months, almost the entire magazine will be on bourbon.

I pick up Whisky Magazine occasionally (maybe twice a year) when I have nothing better to do. Somehow, the bourbon articles never seem to be written by Chuck. Maybe I´ve just been unlucky?

WM is informative but curiously lacking in excitement and dynamics. Whisky is such a thrilling subject to write about and yet, WM reads more like a gardening magazine.

I grew up with the UK rock weeklies (NME, Sounds, Melody Maker) where they managed to combine depth with a, sort of, in-yer-face attitude. I would like to see more of that to make me reach for the wallet more often.

Maybe the Malt Advocate is better? I never see it in my neck of the woods.

I have 2 issues of Malt Advocate that I got at Whiskyfest. Overall both issues were decent and had some interesting articles but most of them were about scotch. I enjoy reading about whiskey in general but wish there was more about bourbon in the 2 issues I received, if there was then I would have probably subscribed to this magazine by now.
