Hello everyone, I ran across this board when I searched for 10 yOC. 10OC has been my drink of choice for years. And now it appears that OC is not being bottled as 10 anymore, only 8 and 12 years. About 2 months ago, my regular liquor store guy said that he cannot order 10 anymore (this is in the Dallas gigaplex). Also, about this same time, there was a big jump in price of all OC products. So I went shopping around and bought several bottles where I could find them. Just went back to the last place yesterday and the shelves were empty of the 10 year old stuff.

So I guess it's gone.

I think the news might not be so bleak. I believe that the OC 12 and 13 yr's are being discontinued, but the 10 yr is not. That's not to say that the distributor who handles it for Dallas may elect to not carry it. You might want to keep on the lookout.

Good luck.

JOE

Buffalo Trace simply ran out of 10yo bourbon to put in Old Charter earlier this year. They didn't discontinue it, they just didn't bottle what they didn't have. The shortage is much of the reason the 12- and 13yo bottlings will expire.

The OC 10 is available again today.

A bad omen for those of us who like well aged bourbons. 12 & 13 gone and 10 in short supply.

I live in the mid-cities part of the 'gigaplex' and I've seen a fair amount of this stuff. I don't remember exactly where I saw it but I will let you know next time I do. Not sure where you are but if you check any of the Big Daddy's or Majestics in the east Ft. Worth/west Arlington area, you just might get lucky. Again I'll take note and let you know next time I see it.

Been away for a while......job takes me on the road quite a bit. Been doing a lot of catch-up reading and latest OC news here has me a bit disturbed. OCPR is one of my all-time favorites. In fact, I have a hard time choosing just about any other 'rye recipe' bourbon in front of it - even the out-of-production WTs 8 & 12. Any idea how much of it might still be out there on shelves, and, about when it went out of production? Looks like'm going to have to add it to my 'endangered' list and keep a keen eye during my travels in order to get some built up in the bunker.....that is, if it is really truly being discontinued. Maybe BT is just temporarily suspending production(?).....or just hopeful wishing on my part.

We have a bellwether. Ask Lamplighter what he likes and we'll know it's about to be discontinued.

But to answer your question, the only places where Old Charter will be is where Old Charter was, which isn't that many places, and that doesn't bode well for the future. I say, get thee to Little Rock, Arkansas, which I understand to be the center of the Old Charter universe, and work your way out from there.

I have a bottle of OC10 in my stock, and, unfortunately, it's one of the few bourbons that have ever disappointed me. It has a harshness that seems out of character for something its age.

I'm going to let the bottle sit for a while, and maybe it will mellow a bit.
