TNbourbon
Run a search for "Prichard's" and you'll find two dozen or so thread that at least mention Prichard's. Here's one of the more dedicated ones:http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6547&highlight=Prichard%27s
cas
I've had an open bottle on the shelf for about a year now. There's a reason that I haven't emptied it quickly.Craig
cowdery
Here's the quick story. Prichard makes rum at his distillery in Tennessee, not bourbon. He buys fully-aged bourbon from one of the Kentucky producers, tops off the barrels, ages it a little longer, and calls it "double-barrelled bourbon." I've never had it, in part because it costs way too much for what it is, and because of what I've heard from people such as Craig.
Old Lamplighter
I've never had it, in part because it costs way too much for what it isBelieve it or not, last week I saw this bottle with a whopping price tag of $70 in a store in another state. It will be there for a while I'm sure. Someday, perhaps when it has been out of production for 20 years (due to obvious reasons), those bottles will be 'dusty finds' for some future collector(s).Normally, when I see/notice it on a shelf, it is $35-45. As with you and others, I have never tried it due to price plus more negatives than positives herein.
Sweetmeats
The Prichard's Crystal Rum is mighty tasty though.
