It's all good. Wheat or rye. Islay or Lowland. Dixieland or bebop. If it's crafted with care, I can dig it. Variety is the spice of life.

This one is hard for me. While some of my favorites are rye based, and I started out on rye based bourbon, I have a lot of wheaters in my stash. Old Fitz BIB was my everyday for awhile, and of course ORVW 10 107, and Lot B are a couple of my favs, but I would say that I reach for a rye based bourbon, 6 out 10 times. Having said that, I think Old Fitz will be my pour when I get home from work tonight.

I choose my whiskey /whisky by the flavor mood I am in...I like them all. Sometimes a Rye fits the bill...othertimes straight bourbon or "foreign" whiskey.

While I like many of the ryes, on the whole I tend towards the wheaters. I like the little extra sweetness, I guess.

I am going to butter my bread on both sides; PVW. FR for Rye, 15-20 for wheat. But at the end of the day, I am a wheater, that occasionally enjoys Old Rittenhouse.

My preference tends to wobble and spin a bit... sort of like how the room does if I over-indulge.

Of course, once I start mixing cocktails, I tend to prefer straight rye or rye-based bourbons if I use red vermouth, but wheaters if I use white.

At this time I lean heavy towards the Rye or Straight Rye. Even though I just finished a pour of the 2007 WLW, 8 out of 10 pours are Rye currently. Once these bottles go down I'll open up the next bunch which may be heavy on the Wheat side who knows??

I'm with you, Tony. I first started out in bourbon drinkinng the wheaters. Right now, I'd much rather throw back anything but. The one exception is Weller Antique. I just love that stuff.
