How many bottles do you, personally, go thru in a years time?

Hard to tell here since I'm generally pouring from alternate bottles, not the same one nightly. However, I toss one out about once every 7-10 days, so I guess we'll go with that. That likely works out to somewhere between 40-60 bottles a year.

What Tim said is close to what I was thinking. Have dozens open and about one empty per week tossed, more on a week I'm entertaining, less during a busy work week, so 50-60 a year.

Squire

I need to catch up with you guys.

I toss an empty about every three weeks or a little less time than that.

So that works out to about 18 per year.

5-6 bourbons empty per year--Pappy 20 and Stagg seem to go fastest.

plus 5-6 more of single malt scotch, gin and tequila. I drink a fair number of margaritas and martinis, especially during the summer.

I keep trying to have mini whiskyfests to try to get more guys interested and move through my bottles. Guess I'll have to work harder at that.

Hmmm...let's see.

25.4 oz in a standard bottle...365.25 days in a year...9 months a year at 30 degrees north 3 months at 38 degrees north...add in daylight savings time... hold on, need another sheet of paper...phases of the moon...magnetic declination of Molvania...current student loan debt...damn, broke the point on my pencil...number of characters left out of the movie version of the Lord of the Rings...okay...square root of that...divided by pi over 4...times the sum of the DSPs in operation

15.43...give or take atomic mass of Lithium

One a month

Plus one extra on leap year (to drown my sorrows on election day)

Add one for each solstice

Ohh, one for the equinoxes

And one for when the Barturtle visits

PS - If the question is how many do I buy - well, that's where the discussion of addiction comes in...

:lol::slappin::lol::slappin::lol::slappin:I like that a lot!

I think that when I am on my normal consumption level, I tend to toss one every week or so. I will go with 50 bottles a year. Of course, I bunker them a lot faster than I drink them. I think I did a calculation one time and determined I will have over 3000 bottles when I die!!

Current rate is about one bottle every three weeks. Lately I've been drinking' faster than I've been buying.

If I find myself drinking more I simply start buying more so at least I can convince myself that I must not be drinking enough because my collection keeps growing. I probably kill about a bottle a week.

I think I'm at about 1 bottle every two months or so. So 6 bottles a year tops.

I don't drink bourbon everyday. Mostly when I'm roasting coffee. I never mix it with anything, that would be wrong. :-)

Probably about 1 bottle a month, likely slightly less. So I'd estimate 10 to 11 bottles a year. From that I mix it up with most quanity at the bottom(price wise) like Rittenhouse Rye BIB, Evan Williams 1783. Then decreasing quanity with great middle-of-the-road pours like Wild Turkey 101 and Old Grand Dad BIB. Finally with a little more pricey(for me) bourbons consumed less frequently such as Old Rip Van Winkle 10/107 and W.L. Weller 7/107 and 12 year.

Do 1.75s count as one bottle? Like Tim said I have a lot of open bottles and while I tend to sip a bit from each from time to time, the bulk comes from my 1.75s of which I've only drained three this year. Additional farewells were said to about 5 750s. I really need to step up consumption to keep up with the pack it seems.

I could of sworn it was the number of characters placed to the second power, THEN divided by "apple" pi...Seriously, I was going through a bottle a week, but like most, I had several bottles open at any given time. Now I save (savor) my glasses on the weekend with wine during the week, increasing my cash flow considerably.

I average about 1 bottle a month. I have many bottles open so the empties don't occur all that often. Working swing shift cuts down own my drinking time depending on what shift I'm working!

I'm in the bottle/week category (with my wifes help) (and a little help from my friends).

When a bottle gets half-empty, I buy two more so I have a wider selection. Four years after "discovering" bourbon, I've only thrown out two bottles. With eight close to half-empty, that works out to about 1.5 750ml bottles/year.

  • 3 weeks later...

Not sure I've hit a consistent average yet. I'm definitely on the low side in this group, from the sound of it. Maybe 6-12 bottles/year (including all types of whiskey). I tend to have a lot of open bottles of whiskey rather than drinking straight through one or two. It is fairly rare for me to empty a bottle. And I drink a lot of wine. And beer.

Howdy,

About 1 bottle per month. I'm strictly a nightcapper.

Eggman

I'm with you.....but, if I had more time it could get dangerous......good thing I work 6 days a week.
