eprater Posted January 2, 2008 Share Posted January 2, 2008 I've noticed an increasing prevalence of Corner Creek "Reserve" Bourbon Whiskey in stores and at bars.http://www.cornercreekbourbon.com/The "producer" is listed as "Corner Creek Distilling Co." Anyone know which distillery (or distilleries) are the source of this whisky, and more importantly, whether it's any good? whiskeyhatch Posted January 2, 2008 Share Posted January 2, 2008 I am not sure where this stuff is distilled. My bottle says Bardstown, KY. It also has a very nasty grassy flavor reminescent of some of the worst stuff to come from Heaven Hill. I am going to guess DSP-KY-31. But take that with a grain of salt. I am giving my bottle a few months to 'settle down' before I pour it down the drain. It's that bad. But I may have a bad bottle as some people seem to really enjoy Corner Creek. I still sampled it from time to time. Oddly, when I finally got down to the last couple of inches or so, it became, not great, but pretty competent young whiskey. I still won't be buying it again. jeff Posted January 3, 2008 Share Posted January 3, 2008 I have to say that the 2 or 3 bottles of this I have had over the years have been quite good for the price; but, considering that this is a 3rd party bottling, and taking into account the current shortage of well-aged or even "good" whiskey available to independent bottlers, it is likely that what is being bottled today bears little if any resemblance to that which sported the same label in the past. Cowdery suggested that they take two bourbons, one a wheater and the other bourbon that has rye as the small grain and mixes them. So you have four grains in your bottle in their muddy uniqueness. KBD doesn't own the label, of course.I had it at a bar here in D.C. and rather liked it, but that was a couple of years ago.
