Rebel Yell is not bad for what it is....the begining of the wheat experience. Start there (with RY) and the rest of the wheated bourbons will all taste better. IIRC, RY is a blend of 4 to 6 year old stock.

I don't know how it compares, but just last night I opened a 1985 Rebel Yell which is 90 proof. The person that gave it to me indicated it was SW whiskey. I have a number of SW whiskey's and as wheaters, they are smooth to the palate. This Rebel Yell has a little spicy kick to it and the finish seems to linger around. Now I'll have to get a bottle of the current version and do a comparison.
