It's not nearly as impressive as the stuff some of you guys find with tax stamps and such, but I went into a liquor store to buy Stone Smoked Porter to use as a base for my chili, and I noticed that they had a pretty good selection of bourbon. It was very hard to see because it's all behind the counter, but I discovered that they still had Russel's Reserve 101 proof! I bought a bottle and might return for a couple more...

It's a bit of an accomplishment for me. It seems every time I try to do this I see nothing buy Beam White, Maker's Mark, and maybe Knob Creek...

Congrats on your find. I to have tried to dusty hunt without much success. You are right you can find JBW, WT, and maybe KC or MM. However it is always fun to stop in a new store to check them out. I found a Single Malt Scotch from India this way. Keep Huntin.

Congrats....I remember my first dustie....I.W. Harper BHC. It was all over after that. I'm a dustie junkie.

Good luck in your future hunts.

The Russells Reserve 101 was my first find as well. Haven't seen one since. That together with a FR Eagle Rare 101 10y.o., which I never saw another of those either. That's the way it goes for me. I always think there'll be one more somewhere...

Congratulations on the hunt. Just beware of the tricks your mind may play on you. Except they're not always tricks! Let us know what you find. The collectibles forum is my favorite to look at.

Cheers,

That was my first find, too. After that, it was all over for me... Hope you enjoy the RR 101; so tasty!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. I need to go buy another bottle of this stuff, because I want at least one "in the hopper" as it is amazing. I liked the 90, but the 101 is a big step up.
