ThomasH
No need to worry about me being competition, I'm going after the super rare bottles of Bacardi 151!Thomas
craigthom
So is there a way to tell ebay he's just running an overpriced online liquor store? If you want a discontinued Ten High, I've got a sealed, tax-stamped bottle that was made in Peoria. I'll let it go for $50!
cowdery
Either this is somebody's idea of satire (and not bad, at that) or they're trying to test just how gullible people are. It's not even an old label or a genuine dusty. That's the current bottle and label. I bought one exactly like it a few months ago.Mine's half empty, but I'll let it go for $45. gothbat
Last week I saw some Weller Antique 107 listed with an unbelievably low Buy It Now price of $35 + shipping. To top it off this was the coveted Frankfort label Weller Antique too! Still kicking myself for missing that one. I guess I really shouldn't talk though, one of my recent purchases (non-whiskey) made news on another site as being a really bad deal... :/ Oh well. (I'm still happy with it! )

jinenjo
I'm kicking myself for missing out on his Bourbon DeLuxe that had a decent buy it now price of $135. It seemed so recently "discontinued" and "fresh" that the bottle was even from the post-tax strip era.But if I act now I can get another great ND treat. An OT 1.75 for just $139!!!!! TNbourbon
Of course, to be effective satire, the seller would have to get his price...:skep:Now, THAT would be funny!:slappin:

mozilla
Well, it must be some sort of disease because this guy wants $94 for a half pint of bourbon. Sure it is an odd label but really....$94???http://cgi.ebay.com/1969-KENTUCKY-BEAU-Bourbon-Whiskey-mini-bottle-SEALED_W0QQitemZ260209429891QQihZ016QQcategoryZ3914QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

jinenjo
I also saw that the original bottle in this thread has lowered his price to $30. Maybe we have a lurker in our midst?I actually emailed him through eBay and asked "Are you serious?", then followed it with a link to this thread. He returned the message and said "thanks, I ment to list the bottle as $7.99 instead of $79. All of the other prices are for older bottles."I say: Bull-:shithappens:
mozilla
Yeah, I would have to agree with your Assessment of the situation. Seems strange that it reposted near $20???Saw another bottle that seemed a little odd....was a 375 of Evan Williams. Without a tax stamp or TE cap? Don't have alot of faith that there is still bourbon inside. BUYER BEWARE!
cowdery
The whole experience has been interesting, looking at his "store." Most of what he is selling, so far as I can tell, is genuinely collectible, at least in theory, in that it's mostly special packaging or minis. Did anyone else notice that he has his own brand of vodka? By which I mean, a vodka with his name on it, that he is selling?I rail about most of the sales on eBay being illegal, but if this guy is a bona-fide licensed retailer somewhere (California, it seems), only ships where shipping is legal, and always requires proof of legal age, then what he is doing is legal. If he says something is "super rare" when it really isn't, well, that's subjective and may be something to look askance at, but it's not illegal.Whether what he's selling was legally obtained, i.e., by him through wholesale distribution channels, is doubtful but a different kettle of fish.
