Hey All,

I'm going to TN this week and want to pick up some Four Roses while I'm down there. I've already got some great leads from members about where to buy it, but I wanted to see what you all thought I should pick up (besides all of it!). I'm also trying to figure out what price range I should be expecting to see for their products. Any suggestions as to which is the best, which is the best value, or which one to stear away from would be great.

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Hey Jeff as I said don't skip McScrooge's and their hand selected FR1B! As for the cost you're looking at $35.99 per bottle, plus 9.25% sales tax. Hope this helps and have a great trip!!

The single barrel is in the $35 neighborhood.

The small batch is in the $25 neighborhood.

The yellow label is <$20.

It would be helpful if you indicated which part of Tennessee in which you plan to travel. There are 4 distinct and separate distribution areas, and product is not identical in any two. Also, Tennessee is approximately 500 miles long. What you can find 'here' might not be available 'there', and vice versa.

For example, I've just returned from Gatlinburg (East Tennessee distribution area), where I didn't see any Four Roses in the several stores I visited. Yet I know it's available in E. Tenn., because I have open a bottle from McScrooge's (Knoxville). I DID see (and buy) W.L. Weller 12yo, which in NOT available in Middle Tennessee, where I live.

Absolutely & Amen. I have kept a close watch over most of the western areas of Tennessee where I do most of my work and bourbon hunting while keepng a lookout for Four Roses. As of the present, none seen thus far.

As Tim said, you may find something in one (or more) of the distribution areas and never find it in another one (or more). Frustrating at times, expensive at times......but, I guess we're still better off than a control board state.

I bought Four Roses Small Batch at the liquor store right off the Campbell Station Road Exit for Farragut in Knoxville where I live. They also used to have yellow label but now I think its just small batch...

Not sure why both of these are going at the same time? But this will help everyone with region, location!

Yeh, sorry for the doulbed-up forum action. I should have just posted my further question there. I'm still new at this forum thing.

In summation, Johnson City area of TN (Northeastern). My major question here though is are all the FR labels worth trying or should I skip any of them?

Why, get them all, of course! Seriously though, it's an easy choice for the following reasons: 1) The base model is less than $20. No big investment if you don't like it 2) If you're going to try just one of them, I feel you would have to go with the Single Barrel. So, you are going to probably get that one anyway. 3) More than a few people, (actually I'm surprised with how many) prefer the Small Batch to the Single Barrel. So, it has it's merits, and you'll want to know what these folks know.

You're basically looking at a bodacious set of whiskies for under $80. A great deal in anyones book.

BTW, are you driving or flying?

Cheers!

Joe,

I'm flying (somewhat unfortunately). If I was driving, I could make more stops and hit more shops (and also maybe meet up with some people for trades). It also limits my ability to bring whiskey back to Boston. I fly with a wooden box packed in my luggage that holds six Bordeaux-style wine bottles, so I should be able to bring back three or four depending on the shapes/heights.

Thanks for the info. I kinda figured that'd be the best way to just buy 'em all. But I didn't know if it'd be like buying JB White, Black and KC (where it'd be almost superfluous to buy all three). No disrespect to JB.
