velocci
Hi all, anyone tasted the Forty Creek John K Hall Small Batch Reserve? i tasted it the other night and I've never tasted anything like it. I ddidn't like it because it tasted like a chemical for some reason. does anyone feel the same way? i don't see how anyone could like that. Frodo
I'm having some now, and I get no chemical taste. I get a really good balance between sweetness, oak, and spicy rye. For me, Cdn whisky usually has a trademark sweetness that reminds me of synthetic sugar - thats the only chemical-like influance I get. Nothing out of whack in my bottle. Perhaps you got a bad batch...?

barturtle
A bad bottle is possible, but more likely you ate something or drank something that interfered with the enjoyment of whiskey that evening, or maybe you just weren't in the mood for it that evening. I believe that these kind of situations are much more likely than a bad bottle.
velocci
i doubt that i drank or ate something before that, but I will try it again this weekend and see. i sure hope you're right. by the way, just to make sure i have the correct name of the whisky, i'm talking about the one in the tall clear bottle with the picture on the back of the bottle that you see from the frong, and the bottle came in a clear plastic container.A bad bottle is possible, but more likely you ate something or drank something that interfered with the enjoyment of whiskey that evening, or maybe you just weren't in the mood for it that evening. velocci
ok i had another glass of it this weekend and it was definitely better. I smelled a hint of this chemical smell, but that's it. it tasted fine. but i'd rather not get that hint of chemical though.
