TBoner
The last bottle of OF 100 I bought (it was an old bottle: not Signature) cost me $17.99. I bought it two months ago or so at the only store/chain in town that routinely carries the product. OF 86 is everywhere, but not 100/Signature. Tonight, I was in the same store. OF 100 is gone, replaced by OF Signature, which I understand as a simple repackaging. But the price: $25.99!!! I checked to be sure I was reading correctly and was told that the price changed occurred on Feb. 20. As I said, no one else really carries this in town, so I can't compare prices. Has this price jump happened elsewhere, either when the change from OF 100 to OF Sig was made or in the last two weeks? I can get Knob Creek all day for $23, WT 101 for $18, OGD BIB for $15, etc. So unless B-F is trying to price this product out of existence and ride OF 86 and Woodford as their only bourbons, I gotta think it's just our local store making a stupid pricing decision. Anyone?
squire
Same thing here Tim. The repackaged bottles hit the shelves with an increased price sticker attached. Squire
LarryG
Here in Alabama, a control state, I don't know what OF 100 cost but the latest ABC price list still shows OF Sig 100 at $18.99. That's what it has been at least since last October, when I bought it for the first time.Small comfort, though, as Knob Creek is $32.99, WT101 is $21.49, and we can't get OGD BIB (or 114, for that matter) at all.Larry

The price has gone up since then. Every whisk(e)y, wine and other spirits all went up from $2 to $10 on base depending on what it is. Alabama's Draconion 1860's spirit import laws still in effect limit our selection, greatly increase our prices, and make it nearly impossible to get a wide variety at competitive prices. Scotch has gotten almost cost prohibitive and almost all the bourbon and whisky that sits on the mid shelf or higher is going at $30 or higher where I'm at. There are still a lot of bargains but i have to be less choosy and more flexible with my drinking.Sux to be me. :skep: How bout you?

mozilla
Sorry Tim,The only two I have seen in Austin were purchased as a "RED TAG" item......30% off, about 6 mo's ago. They were the 100 proof 1.75ml version, no mention of Bib or Signiture. BTW, I purchased half of the case over a two year period(3 bottles), evidently a slow seller, since they didn't move. Now, none to be had now at any of the stores I have frequented.
TBoner
Well, go figure. I stopped at a known former dusty haunt today and found an OF Signature for $14.99. The proprietor said it was on sale, and that the regular price is $18.99. So it appears what we have is a once-inexpensive chain pushing up their prices one bottle at a time (over the last year, at least 10-12 different American whiskeys have gone up $5 or more a bottle...some of which I know have not increased elsewhere), and not a universal trend. Either that, or the proprietor of the store I went to today hasn't gotten the word on the price increase.

I haven't checked the price of various bottles in some time and I usually only buy KC by the drink in bars and restaurants so I may be behind the times. Alabama's price for WT101 is only a buck or so higher than what it is here in Northwest IL. Most places anyhow.
melting
As far as I'm concerned they can just get rid of Old Forester altogether. It's the worst drink I've ever tasted. What concerns me more is that the price of Ardbeg 10 went up $10 last week. Chris
Stu
Chris,I agree with you on both counts. However you'd better stock up on Ardbeg 10 because I've heard it's going the way of Ardbeg 17.Stu
