I'm working on my first bottle. I like it, but then I cut my bourbon teeth, so to speak, on ryed bourbons, and really like straight rye whiskeys, too. You'll immediately notice the high rye content in OGD 114. You also won't mistake it for some 80 proof lightweight.

BTW, my bottle of ODG 114 came without any kind of seal on the cork. I saw no evidence of tampering nor do I have any reason to suspect there's anything amiss, but I can't recall buying any other bourbon ... any other product, really ... that wasn't sealed in some way. Was the bottle I purchased an anomaly?

I'm a big fan of the 114 Don, I found it incredibly easy to drink for a high proofer.

In my opinion the 114 is quite good and proof differences aside, appears to be somewhat of a different animal than the OGD BIB (i.e., 114 mixed with water won't give you the same product as OGB BIB). BIB is one of my favorite daily pours but 114 is superior in complexity and a great bourbon for the price.

I quite like it. In fact, I was just lamenting that I seem to be out of it. Might be time to pick up a couple more.

I wish I could pick up a couple but the PALCB, in their infinite wisdom, has decided to discontinue it. Fear not, we have an ample supply of Jim Beam White. :hot:

I really enjoy OGD 114. It is a wonderful pour for it's price, and I would pay more if I had too. Wonderful deep orange appearance, The nose is spicy yet there is a hint of sweetness that hides just behind the initial spice. It has that great rye spice on your tongue but I don't find it too hot, and I can still detect corn and orange peel and oak, it's kind of dry. Leaves you warm with a tingle.

Hope you enjoy it Don, I think it's a great pour.

OGD 114 is one of my all time favs. It is remarkably smooth for the hi proof and brings that rye "zing" at just the right moment. It is still a pretty good bargain for the mid $20s although it seems to be creeping towards $30 these days depending upon your location. If you can get some of the older ND stuff, even better.....but, the current recipe from Beam is fantastic IMHO.
