Is Elmer T Lee a "Weater"?

I usually have one bourbon on hand for sipping and general mixing with coke. I've had WR, EWBL, JBW, WLWSR and the latest is MM. I have a bottle of PVW20 waiting for me as a b'day present on 4/30. That will just be for sipping.

I was in my liquor store the other day browsing the bourbons. They had BT, Blantons, KC etc. They also had ETL. I did some research here and also at the BT website and think I'm going to go with ETL.

My question is is ETL a wheater and is it sweet? Also, is it 14 yrs. old? Thanks for your help!

Sweet, yes. Wheater, no.

It's usually c. 10yo, but retailer-specific bottlings have been known to be as much as 14 years.

Bought my first bottle Saturday. Had my first taste today. My usual bourbons are Maker's, Knob Creek and Woodford Reserve. This may move to the head of the list. I can't describe the tastes that hit my palate, like some of the more seasoned members of SB, but I'll try. It's only 90 proof, but has a nice strong, rich, full flavor, just a touch on the sweet side. There's no bitter or woody after taste like some bourbons I've tried. Some bourbons only taste good one way. Neat, water, ice or a mixer. I've experimented around a little with my two new buys. To me, ETL tastes great however you drink it. IMHO you can't say that about very many bourbons. If my next bottle is as good as this one, I think I'll have a new favorite on my list. Go for it and buy one. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Not only is ETL not a wheater, it is from Buffalo Trace's higher-rye mashbill.

I just picked up a bottle of ETL single barrel today, mainly after reading up a bit on this and finding it had a more of a rye feel to it made it a must buy.:grin:
