I would add some bottles of straight rye to your collection. If you start at the bottom and work you way up the price list, you can get a fair amount for 250.001

I have all the once (less the Colorado) on your list. I would dance around these personally.. You did not have the WLW on your list... you might want to add it...

Here are my suggestions in order....

George T. Stagg

WLW (if you choose to add)

Old Forester Birthday Bourbon

Van Winkle 12 year old

Russell’s Reserve (if it is the 101 proof - otherwise no)

Elijah Craigl (12 yr is a good price, I like the 18 better)

Pappy Van Winkle 20 year old

Blanton’s Single Barrel

Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit

Bakers

Black Maple Hill 21 year old

I have all of those (see my list) except the WLW (I do not know what WLW means)

The Pappy Van Winkle 23 where I go is $295. Just a tad over my budget this time around. Maybe next week. ;)

William Larue Weller. It's the wheater in the BTAC collection.

Life is too short to drink cheap bourbon

No, life is too short to drink bad bourbon.

WLW is the abbreviation for William Larue Weller from the BT Atique Collection!

Jim,

That Weller is fantastic!

and FYI, the EC12 isn't a Single Barrel, only the 18 is.

Enjoy your new purchases!

My mistake. The EC is the 18 year old.

You've obviously gone for quality over quantity. Nice list.

As Thomas noted, you lack for ryes, as well as wheaters. For rye, the 6yo "baby Saz" and Wild Turkey Rye are great places to start. The BTAC ryes (Saz and Handy), if you can still find any, are a must.

For wheated bourbons, the 12 Weller is great, but you really need to try the W. L. Weller 7yo, 107 (not 90) proof. Inexpensive ($20 or less) but worth double the price. Another amazing wheater, but one that's very hard to find, is the Old Rip Van Winkle 10yr. Still not real expensive ($25-30). It almost rivals Pappy 15 (some people I know like it better).

Thank You!

The lesser priced more readily availble bottlings (Jim Beam etc.) can be added anytime. Hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks I'll get me a PVW 23 along with a few others.

Today I ordered a bottle of PVW 15, Wild Turkey American Spirit, Eagle Rare 17 and hopefully a bottle of Willett single barrel Family Reserve 25 year old.

I'm hoping for the Willett as the rest of them can be had much easier.

We'll see

  • 2 weeks later...

Finding Baby Saz in SD county is a real bitch. I've got 1/2 of 1 bottle left and I haven't seen it on the shelves in forever.

Old Rip 10/107 is also a bit tough to find. Pretty tasty stuff, I'm going to check a local liquor store this weekend and then out on Coronado, if I find anything people mentioned you should have I'll give you the heads up.

Which reminds me, I'm looking for BTAC ER 17 2007. When I went to BEVMO to buy it when it was released, it was an '06. Just dawned on me I still don't have this bottle!
