What is your "Go To" Bourbon?

I did a search and didn't anything on this subject so I thought I' ask the question. What is your day to day Bourbon? I myself enjoy Maker's Mark and save my good drink for Friday or Saturday night or when a friend comes over.

The generally used term on this forum has been "everyday pour". Search for that and you should find a lot more info.

Centennial 13 would have to be the closest thing I have to an everyday pour. I really love variety so I try not to drink the same thing day in and day out. But the Centennial has all the right characteristics-- Great bourbon at a great price point. Other pours I reach for quite often are Lot B, ORVW 10/107, PVW15, Antique, and VSOF.

I can't say that I have a daily pour. I grab whatever interests me at any particular time. I have about 20+ bottles open at any one time and generally rotate around those bottles and when one gets low, open another of something else. I'm an eclectic drinker.

I refer to this as a weekday bottle. If I'm going to drink on a weeknight then I generally go for the lower shelf stuff, it makes the usually higher end stuff I drink on the weekends seem like more of a treat. Anyway, I don't really have a regular weekday bottle anymore. First it was FC103, then Weller Antique 107, then Rittenhouse: BIB. I typically choose between those three these days but there is also the occasional bottle of WT101 bourbon or rye although I usually only buy the WT101 rye when there is no Rittenhouse to be had. My current weekday bottle is somewhat atypical, a bottle of ORVW107; I didn't feel like going to the liquor store last night to pick up that bottle of FC103 I've been wanting since someone recently started a thread about it (it's been a while) and it had been sitting around for a while.

I was a Buffalo Trace guy for a long time. Recently, though, Elijah Craig 12YO has been my "go to" bourbon.

For me, a "go to" pour (1) has to be under 25 bucks a bottle (so it can be purchased frequently) and (2)has to favor balance over pizazz. I like the Weller Antique, too, but to me it favors style over balance.

I like drinking so many different things, it's hard to say. But if I was forced to, I suppose it would be EWSB. When I can't make up my mind regarding what I to drink, that's always a safe choice. And at the price, it's an easy choice too.

My house pour used to be Eagle Rare 101...discontinued, so I switched to Old Charter 12yo...that's gone now too...I can't say I really have one anymore...I'd probably go with OGD 114, but it's not available in the Swamp, so these days, I just pour whatever I feel like from my stock of open bottles.

My "go to" pours are Wild Turkey RR101 (the only whiskey I've gone out of my way to bunker) and Old Forester BIB. I drink other stuff, of course, but to me those are the highest expressions of the bourbon-distiller's art.

I'll say this, though - an upstart has become known to me in recent months - Four Roses Single Barrel. It's just recently become available in South Jersey, and it's liquid candy.

In a perfect world, I'd say Pappy 15, but in reality it's probably ORVW 10/107, in an effort to keep costs down (a little).

Well, I only keep about 5 or 6 bottles in the house at a time, and I'm buying different ones trying one after another. This makes having one "go to" pour hard to say. I'm never without a bottle of Evan Williams Green Label in the house, and lately I've tried to keep Weller Special Reserve on hand. I probably drink more of those than the rest to savor my higher priced / harder to get bourbon longer; like the Buffalo Trace I have which I can't buy here.

But if I were to have one true "go to" bourbon it would have to be Maker's Mark. While I currently don't have any on hand every time we go out for dinner, no matter where, or what we're having (short of Italian) that's what I drink. It's also my drink of choice when playing poker at the casino, but there I hold myself to 2.

Your self controle is remarkable... I have no where near that controle...

My go to pour, if I had to pick one of many availble of all bourbon around the world that I knew I would love... it would be any version of the Weller Centennial.... Always a great pour....

It would be wrong of me to let you keep thinking that. My stash is that small because my funding limits me, not my self control. I have an 8 month old grand daughter so she gets spoiled before I do. But she's worth it. :grin:
