SippinJim
I have looked around and have found the 16yo but nowhere is the 23yo to be found. Has it all been grabbed? If a person was to find a bottle what would they be expected to pay?
Vange
AH23 does not exisit. If you find an AH20 you would be VERY lucky. They are all gone. Unless you mean Hirsch rye, there is a 22 year old of that and its excellent!
wadewood
AH Hirsch and Hirsch are different lines.

barturtle
AH Hirsch is a bourbon that was distilled in PA by a now defunct place called Mitcher's. To the best of my knowledge all of the stuff ever bottled as AH Hirsch was distilled in 1974 (the 19yo is the only one I'm not sure about, but I think it was also.) It was bottled at 16yo, 19yo and 20yo.Hirsch Selection Rye is a current label rye (though there is also a Canadian Whisky by this name, I think they're owned by the same company). It was distilled in KY by sources unknown (but frequently guessed at). The Hirsch rye has been bottled at several different ages, starting at 13yo, and now as high as 22yo. The brand owner (preiss imports) has had it bottled at at least two different places.

CorvallisCracker
Hirsch Selection Rye is a current label rye (though there is also a Canadian Whisky by this name, I think they're owned by the same company). If you ever encounter any of the Hirsch Canadian Rye, save your money. I tried some (the 10yo) a couple of years ago. It was so bad I never touched it again and ended up dumping it when we moved.I wish I'd researched it first. Paul Pacult has a low opinion of it:http://www.winemag.com/buyingguide/spirits/search.asp?db=spirits and search on hirschand John Hansell an even lower opinion:http://www.maltadvocate.com/buyers-ca-Hirsch.asp
CorvallisCracker
Thank You!I have a bottle of AH Hirsch 16yo. There is more where it came from at $105 per bottle. OK price?Well, that's really up to you. If you think it's worth that, then it's an OK price. If you want an additional data point, here in OR it's $122.I don't know how much you know about this whiskey. It's been discussed off-and-on here quite a bit. One of the more infomative posts is on this page:http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7674Scroll down and find the one by cowdery (#8).Many people feel the final bottling, sealed in gold foil, is not as good as earlier ones. The theory is that the additional eight years it spent in tanks caused a degradation due to prolonged oxygen exposure, and characterize it as having a "metallic" taste.I purchased four bottles of the blue-wax-sealed 16 in late 1994. I'm now halfway through the last one. I considered whether to buy one of the gold foil versions to compare, but decided not to take the chance. The three best bourbons I've sampled are the old Hirsch, PVW 15 and VW 12 Lot B, and the differences between them are more of style than quality. For $122, I can get three bottles of Lot B, plus a Snickers bar.
wadewood
When the AH Hirsch gold foil was released 3-4 years ago, Binny's had it for about $40. I bought 6 bottles. The price has gone up and will probably continue to do so. Once it is gone, it is gone.It is a very enjoyable bourbon for $40. $105? - up to you.Is the gold foil as good as other version (gold wax, blue wax, purple wax)? I may be in the minority, but I think they are very damn close.
