I know this has been posted before, But is woodford Reserve a wheat bourbon or Rye. I like wheat bourbon's but live in PA. and the choice is scarce. I know they have Knob Creek and Rebel Yell and a few top shelf very expensive brands.. Please help me I want to broaden my Bourbon tasting from Maker's Mark.. Thanks

They don't sell any varieties of Weller there?

Makers Mark - good but a little bland.

Old Fitzgerald - decent, the "1849" is probably the best buy, the 12yo is too pricey unless you find it for under $25

Rebel Yell - a bit rough, but better than it used to be

I think Weller Antique is a wheater.

Anything marked Old Fitz, Weller, Van Winkle or Maker's Mark is a wheater.

Knob Creek is NOT a wheater, but Rebel Yell is (made by HH using today's Old Fitz mashbill), sold by Luxco (erstwhile David Sherman Corp.).

Not sure if it's wheat or rye but I know it is a bad bourbon.

In my opinion, Weller Antique is an excellent option. It is both stronger and smoother than Maker's and usually a good bit cheaper to boot.

I'll 2nd that call. I got a bottle of Old Fitz 1849 when I was in New Zealand a couple of years ago. I'm nearly done with the bottle unfortunately, but it's definately one of my prefered regulars (along with Makers Mark)
