birdman1099
I need some clarification, fellas !!!Is the Wild Turkey 1855 the same juice as the Rare Breed. I have been told that both are available in Japan. so, if they are the same, then why would they be available side by side.however, the bottles look identical, and are both 108.8 proof.Give me your thoughts.... Different or the same ???
HighTower
This thread gives an insight into the 1855. There are other threads with the same verdict, that it is Rare Breed packaged for export.I have a 375ml that is from batch No W-T-01-94 AND IT IS 112.2 proofDo you know where in Japan it is available? I have a friend going over there shortly, and I would love a 750mL (then I can drink this 375:grin:)Scott
CorvallisCracker
RB is great stuff. I've had it side-by-side with AS and it's just as good (different, but I couldn't pick a favorite)Scott (the westcoast/domestic one, not the Ohio or Indiana or Australian one)

HighTower
Scott (the westcoast one),I will have to try Rare Breed along side American Spirit...I tried it (AS) side by side with Kentucky Spirit and found them very similar. It might be time to crack another RB :grin:Scott

I put it as the top of my WTs... and I have a damn flock of TurkeysI think the 1855 was pulled from a special barrel or set of barrels....
HighTower
the 1855 bottle you are referring two is one of my all time favorites. Hopefully I can get a 750mL so I can drink this 375mL sucker (I know, I know, I should just drink it anyway!) I have a damn flock of Turkeys My flock of Turkeys has gotten so big I need to build them a freakin' coop! Scott
spun_cookie
Scott (HT), I believe that the 1855 was only in 375s. I have never seen or heard of a 750.
dcb
while on the topic of Rare Breed, how old is this bourbon?
CorvallisCracker
while on the topic of Rare Breed, how old is this bourbon? It's a blend of different age barrels; according to the WT web site, 6, 8 and 12yo stock.
HighTower
Scott (HT), I believe that the 1855 was only in 375s. I have never seen or heard of a 750.I know a guy in Canberra who has at least 5 750mL bottles of 1855 Reserve. He also has a few minis! He picked them up about 10 years ago in Australian duty free stores. Needless to say he isn't interested in trading or selling any of them:smiley_acbt:Over the years I have also seen them on ebay, but at the time have either been chasing bigger fish or not had the funds.......He also has a number of the barrel proof KY Legend bottles, maybe 4?I have lost contact with this guy (after 2 new motherboards and losing all my stuff), but I did a trade with him once and I keep most details of trades written down. I will see if I can find him and get some pics of his flock. It's very impressive!Scott

CorvallisCracker
Like them both but I've got to disagree.... WTAS is far superior (in fact, one of the best). It's all subjective. I like the more forward nose of the RB. If the AS had more of that I'd like it more than the RB.
spun_cookie
Cool 750s, I will have to whatch for that. Anyone know when the last of was bottled?
