Weller re-appears on the shelves

I've only been able to find the Special Reserve at bigger stores like Liquor Barn here in Louisville. No 12 year to be found. (At least, not at the usual stops.) But the antique and the ORVW are available.

Was told last week not to expect more antique for several weeks (GA). Was also told to expect a hefty price increase when it does reappear. Should've stocked up when I had the chance.

Do any of the Houston SB'ers know for sure if the 'new' Weller Antique 107 has hit the shelves here? I ask because I saw a good bit of the Antique in one particular store and the store owner told me that it was a new shipment, but I'm not sure I believe him because the price (at least that of the 1.75L bottles) had not gone up at all, in fact it was still a few dollars cheaper than Spec's prices. So either the price has not gone up here at all (a good thing!), or maybe his shipment was of older stock and not reflecting a new price increase (doesn't seem likely), or he was mistaken and didn't get a new shipment. I'm also curious to know if the new juice tastes any different. Anyone here know anything?

I saw some 750's locally at 23.99 or 24.99 . So they musta been new stock. That makes me recall a 1.75 I left on the shelf at another place for 33 dollars. Might have to head back there!

Yeah, $24-$25 per 750 is pretty high compared to the $18-$19 that I've been paying. But for some months now the 750's here have been creeping up into the $21-$23 range at some stores, though I've still never had to pay more than $19 for a 750. $33 for a 1.75L is a very good price (you should jump on that) and is pretty much a thing of the past around here, where for awhile now the average 1.75L prices have been in the $37-$40 range, though I have seen it at some stores for as much as $44. These 1.75L bottles from this new batch, which I've just seen at three stores now, were priced at $38, $39, and $42. So it appears (at least around these parts) that there may not really be much of a price increase at all....kudos to Buffalo Trace for not jacking the price up.

The SR is back...price went from $13.95 to $14.95 (+7.7%). The Antique is back too...went from $16.95 to $18.95 (+6.6%).

Just saw Antique jump $2 in the DC area on new shipments. The 1.75 from 2004 are $44 in Virginia. We are seeing the VABC raise prices on a regular basis both to capture price increases as well as to generate more income to make up for declining tax revenue's. They also tack on 5.5% sales tax..... and they wonder why folks go to Maryland and DC......

The folks at the Cork & Bottle in Covington, Ky report that Weller 12 will likely not reappear until early 2009 and that Antique come back late this year. Quantities are expected to be somewhat limited..

During my April trip to Ky., Weller Antique was in nearly every store I checked. It was Weller 12 and Weller SR that were in low supply or sold out!

The Welller 12 is scarce but the rest of the line can be found in these parts quite easily.

I bought Weller 12 yr this past week at Party Outlet on Shelbyville Rd in Louisville. One of the employees told me that they just got it in that day, and they only got 12 bottles in.

As per recommendation I went to the Grape Vine in Sterling Hts. MI today and picked up a bottle of the SR for under $20. There was another Weller there too, but I forget which one it was, but it was in the double digits, age-wise.

Anybody know what the deal is? Did BT just run out of what they had left over from UD or what?

If only you American's knew how well you have got it over there. In Australia Jim Beam White label is around AUS$29 which these days is equal to around US$26/27 and that is for 700ml bottled at 37%ABV or 74 proof....GTS on the other hand is only available on the internet through importers and retails for abour AUS$400!

Yeah Josh the other bottle you saw was part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (2007 release) 117 proof William Laure Weller. Nice stuff but it's $59.99 State minimum, I think I have one open so try it before you buy one.

I got a bottle of Weller 12 about two months ago and I was surprised because unlike the other Wellers I had tried and liked, the back end was bitter. I've had about 3 pours out of it and haven't changed my opinion. Is there a difference between the older versions of Weller 12 and the new one or did I just get a bad bottle?
