SBOmarc
I just wonder how many of those barrels could be accounted for by the denizens of Staright Bourbon.com. I would venture to say that although not even close to 6 million, we have had our share. I wonder how quickly we can spur it on to 7 million? pepcycle
In the words of Herman Munster, "DARN, DARN, DARN, DARN DARN!!" I'll be en route to NYC for the next few days. I hate to miss stuff like this. Many of us know Jimmy's son. He gave us our tour when we bought the BT barrel . Here's a bad shot of the back of his head.
TNbourbon
...Many of us know Jimmy's son. He gave us our tour when we bought the BT barrel...Freddy's is BT best, and best-known, tour guide. It was Freddy to told some of us a couple of years ago about the 'single-tree' barrel among BT's experiments, recently 'announced' by Mark Brown. I believe we were gathered that day, too, to select a barrel or three:cool:.
camduncan
Chris from BT mentioned this when we were there just after the Sampler. It'd be a great event to attend. If anyone goes, please post a photo or two

sysrick
Few facts from today's newspaper article about the event and gathered from talking to Harlen. This was the 6,000,000th barrel produced since prohibition. Jimmy Johnson, who is 92, has rolled out the previous 5 "millionth" barrels and is now up to 6.Reflecting the bourbon slowdown the 5,000,000th barrel was sealed in 1981 (when Harlen was in High School). This year they plan to produce 70,000 barrels and plan to get up to 100,000 barrels a year in 4 years. For comparison Jim Bean's 10,000,000th barrel was in 2005 and Heaven Hill filled its 5,000,000th barrel in 2006.One last over unrelated fact -- according to Harlen an average 90 year old white oak tree produces enough wood for 2 barrels.Rick

pepcycle
To Sysrick,Great photo with Elmer, Gary G, and Harlen. Not too many photos of Gary around. He's not often seen and rarely heard. The quiet type. Correct me if I;'m wrong, but I think he's responsible for the BTAC idea and early selections of Stagg.
