I attended the National Rifle Association Annual Meeting and Convention in Louisville this weekend. Louisville is a fantastic convention town. Got to meet a lot of fine folks and had a great time. I spoke to a couple of NRA Executives about making Louisville a permenent location for this event. I did not speak to any of the exhibitors that did not agree.

One highlight was 4th street live and the Makers Mark Tavern. The atmosphere was terrific, the food was awesome and the staff was excellent and beautiful (the women that is).

I highly recommend it . We had a group of abouth 12 and were treated like kings. Oh yeah, since this is a Bourbon forum, I should mention that they had one of the finest collections of Bourbons available I have ever seen.

Did I mention that the women were Beautiful?

:)

P.S. If anyone here has anything to do with the Makers Mark Tavern, please consider expanding and not keeping this fantastic place from the rest of the world. One in Nashville and or Memphis would be great.

I love to hear it when people enjoy visiting Louisville. To expand slightly on Tracy's point, the Maker's bar has a great selection and it isn't limited to Beam Global products. Even Maker's itself barely gets priority on the back bar itself. It is a bourbon bar, not a Maker's bar. That is one of the many things they did and do right.

A Makers Mark Tavern just opened here in Kansas City. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds wonderful.

I was at the MM Tav a few years ago. I loved the atmosphere.

Good music piped in, great food and they know how to make an Old Fashion, the best I ever had.

I agree Chuck, they did a LOT of things right in my opinion, especially the low tables and sofa's that create an intimate and very comfortable setting. The atmsphere alone was fantastic but add the food, bourbon selection and excellent staff and they have a winner.

We were so impressed we returned on Saturday evening and with some of our clients and Gear Manufacturer reps and were told that we could not get in without a reservation for the remainder of the weekend. My winning smile along with a polite request to the hostess and she was able to accomodate us. I should also mention that along with that winning smile was a couple of twenty's but I prefer to believe it was the smile. :)

I was a little surprised and dissapointed to find that the only Buffalo Trace Bourbon they had available was Buffalo Trace Bourbon and the only Van Winkle was the PVW 23. When I asked the Bar man about this, he said they simply could not get any of the others due to a limited supply.
